presentation of the 1000 DB5 2008

it's been a long time since Bimota made news. The small Italian manufacturer is delighted to announce a brand-new machine for the Munich Motor Show: the DB5. A surprising, beastly motorcycle, almost like a brute pushing its rivals with its shoulders. The design is daring, shocking, and ultimately exerts a certain indescribable fascination. The Italians really know how to do it. Without wishing to be unkind, we can make out a hint of GSX-R 1000 in the design of the headlamp unit, as well as a touch of Benelli Tornado in the mounting of the mirrors. No matter, this is an impressive machine.
As is often the case, Ducati uses a Ducati engine to power this singular sportbike. We're talking about the twin 1000 DS that has recently made its home on the Multistrada, Monster 1000 and SS. A twin-cylinder engine that's both modern and authentic, perhaps a little short on pure power but full of charm and flavor. And in the chassis of a Bimota 1000 DB5 2008Bimota, it can only express itself at its best. The mufflers that evacuate its raucous breath are 2 carbon silencers that play an important part in the visual identity of the rear end.
The Italian's frame is a tubular trellis (as is the superb swingarm) connected to reinforced aluminum plates, all combined with Öhlins suspension components. The fork is an inverted model, equipped as it should be with radial-mount brake calipers.
We can't wait to see what this thoroughbred has to offer. Advertised as very light, the DB5 offers intense and deserving riding pleasure, in the purest Bimota tradition.

Test drive :

A Bimota is first and foremost a work of art on 2 wheels. Then there's the bike, its beauty, its values, and the pretensions it nurtures. The DB5 is not a machine that competes with the latest road-legal superbikes; it's simply a sports bike that seeks to please you to the point of abuse. No lap times to chase, just trajectories, curves and angles to negotiate with a superb machine that can be displayed in a shop window as well as in the paddock. So, unlike a Superproduction machine, the DB5 doesn't impose a radical driving position on its driver. It's better to be comfortable, especially as it's easy to squeeze your buttocks when you put them on a machine worth more than 25 times the minimum wage. On the technical side, the bike isn't very heavy, and this is clearly evident in its reactions and handling.

There is not much that does not resemble the Benelli Tornado ... the mirrors are positioned in the same place it is exactly the same front indicators too and I imagine that the rear indicators too. no doubt they are really revolted Benelli who left and created their own bike. ;-) lol Rating : 5/5

I think this beaker has charm, nothing to say about it, but I must admit that if I look closely I think there is a bit of inspiration from Benelli Rating : 5/5

Personally, I don't think Bimota is a real motorcycle manufacturer...I'd say it's more of a chassis designer, using already existing super engines...(except for the v-due, 100/100 Bimota)
(except for the v-due,100/100 Bimota).I don't think you can blame Bimota for using a few parts from Benelli,
because frankly, the parts used on a
1000 V-strom,on a 1000 Klv...No comments!!!
I hope,the price of the beauty,won't exceed
20000€,because before,a Bimota,was around 200000 balles!
Hey Bobo, I think it's the oil cooler, which only takes the shape of the lower fairing...it seems to me that above it there's nothing left but the cylinder..

French Model 2008
personally, i think all the magazines/websites are wrong: it's a type 999 engine that's the heart of the beast: you can tell by the size of the water radiator.......in the lower fairing. (for the record, the desmodue twin is air/oil cooled, so it doesn't fit.) and then there are the forced air intakes on the headstock....placed exactly as on a 999.......(or a 749, ok....) mouaip I'm sure, at least on these photos, it's not a desmodue. Fantastic two-cylinder engine from Bimota. What a comeback! A cocktail of pure beauty! You'll find various elements taken from other Italian bombs, but what taste! The tubular aluminum frame: a masterly weight-saver. What's more, a twin-cylinder this light! Can't wait to see it in showrooms! Rating : 5/5
French Model 2008
The rear light, front indicators and rear indicators are from the Benelli Tornado. You could say that Bimota doesn't have much imagination and draws its inspiration from other motorcycles. Rating : 5/5
It's immediately obvious that Bimota drew its inspiration for the DB5 from the Benelli Tornado, and you could even say that it's a carbon copy except for a few details. Or maybe they developed it jointly. Rating : 5/5

ABSOLUTELY SUBLIME MOTORBIKE!... Everything is perfectly done aesthetically! Too bad the engine isn't more powerful. Rating : 5/5
French Model 2008
really a splendid bike i'm crazy about it already.... the tubular chassis.... it's really so beautiful... why don't manufacturers make them more often? even if the performance isn't that of a jap the lines are a real marvel... not to mention the swingarm which is indescribable... In short, Bimota really hits the spot... but that's just dreaming... Rating : 5/5
