presentation of the SS 1000 DS 2003

Does Ducati fascinate you? Do its famous twins and Superbike crowns haunt your nights? But you don't dare take the plunge, because the 749 and 999 seem too exclusive. Don't worry: Ducati has thought of you and offers the SS family to serve you. SS for SuperSport. And even more, because the SS isn't just a sports bike, it's a dynasty whose pounding has cradled decades of motorcycling history. There's a 620 to get you started without breaking the bank, an 800 (replacing the 750) that's more serious and singular, and this wild 1000. The chassis is taken from the 900, so don't worry. Where things really get moving is with the new engine that takes its place in the trellis frame. An air-cooled unit with two valves and two spark plugs per cylinder, also found on the Multistrada and Monster 1000. An engine whose footprint bears no resemblance to Japanese production. Good, big torque and power over a wide rpm range, without the need to rev. No, its strength lies elsewhere, or rather in other ways. The engine pulls with gusto, as if a huge arm were pushing you without throwing you. The sound is gut-wrenching with every twist of the handle.

And since the chassis can handle it without a hitch, you'll be able to indulge in the thrill of the ride... and the pain. Perched high on the saddle with your body well forward, your wrists are locked on the half-handlebars;DUCATI 1000 SS they taste. Ideal for holding on to the front end and taking the machine out in a sporty manner. A disaster for comfort. There's no doubt about it, this is a true Ducat; you have to place it in the bend, with strength and conviction. The steering is truck-like, the bike demanding, tiring, but high-performance and in the purest tradition of uncompromising, terribly addictive sport. It's the opposite of a 1000 SVS - the Suzuki is powerful, easy and efficient, but lacks character, while the 1000 SS is constricting, uncomfortable, but with an engine packed with potato and passion. All in all, a full-bodied, Italian-style coffee that puts watts in your pulse and a smile on your face with every sip.

i've had this becane for 4 months and after 3000kms (already!) i love it! you have to choose your tires carefully because they completely change the personality of the SS. the michelin macadam was good when i bought it but nothing more (very hard to ride, doesn't want to turn and no feeling afterwards, but it's unwearable!) now with pirelli diablo, i'm rediscovering it for a 2nd time and it's nothing but happiness! it's much lighter to ride, it's great!

and the torque of the twin... ;-P

A super spout!!!
i've only had it for 5 days but I'm already a fan! a couple of arms to lengthen, a demonic cycle part (a real rail) in short what a pleasure!
the only downside is that after more than 200 km in a row, my wrists are getting pretty sore!
there's no need for a Japanese mer... where you only get pleasure from 250kmh or above 12,000t/m, here every little virolo is conducive to playing with the big torque present everywhere and its impossible-to-fail roadholding!

Very nice bike, full of character! only good stuff!
NB: don't forget to tone up the grips and left hand! the position is deadly for the grips, and the clutch is strong!

super machine! dream cycle part and even more, especially when you've found the right fork setting, engine that pushes all the time, 240 also on the speedometer, probably a bit obtimistic but whatever, it's enough to find yourself on foot for a long time Rating : 5/5
French Model 2003
acquired my 1000ss in november 2004 covered 13000 km ducati it's riding really different 1000 of pleasure 1000 of sensation and especially1000 of character... line termignoni boiter filtre kn pignon14 ca envoi grave si en plus tu fait de la piste c'est le pied supreme... ca va etre dur de changer Rating : 5/5
French Model 2003
i bought my 1000ss on June 16, and it's only good, 1800km run-in not finished yet, but already at 7000 rpm I'm at 220, so I think that in real speed at max rpm there is much more than 221km / h. But the important thing for this bike is its engine character and that famous Ducati sound released by termi... Rating : 5/5
French Model 2003
i'm just a kid and yet I find the styling of this bike absolutely perfect (too bad there isn't a 50 like it), but I think that when I grow up I'll think about this bike and buy it... Rating : 5/5

So, did you finally buy that bike, 15 years later? :-) Rating : 5/5
French Model 2003
uh no, ducat are a bit optimistic on the meters :) but what's the point of top speed? anyone can open in a straight line
And as for comfort, I've never had a full tank (except once: after 500 km in a row)
Rating : 5/5

I'm up to 245 on the speedometer. Ducatis have a reputation for displaying the true speed on the speedo, so I don't think mine breaks the rule. Rating : 5/5
French Model 2003
don't confuse the real speed (which is indicated on the site) and the speed on your speedometer, at last a sports car that has character down below and that doesn't force you to risk burning your permos to get some thrills, ps: it's a sports car motorized like a roadster Rating : 5/5
French Model 2003
i bought this bike 6 months ago and it's a real pleasure! I ride it every day and on long trips, never any problems, I'm comfortable despite being 1m90, the duo is correct, I love it! Great feeling, great position, great bike, great sport!
the top speed is much higher than the 221km/h posted on the site, I reached 240 without difficulty.
