presentation of the 1000 TESI H2 Carbon 2021
Quietly gearing up for its return to the market, Bimota is off to a flying start with a Tesi based on the compressed Kawasaki H2. Almost a symbolic transition... The greens have acquired almost half of the Italian craftsman, and the Tesi H2 arrives just as the career of Kawa's sports bike is coming to an end
So there's no risk of competition, even if the Tesi plays in a more luxurious register than its ex-brother-in-law.
And exclusivity. Of the 250 machines planned by Bimota, around ten will be produced in this Carbon edition. I stress the word edition rather than finish or specificity. The Tesi H2 is already amply equipped with the noble, dark material. The difference lies in the graphics used: more discreet on the Carbon, to emphasize this skin woven of resistance.
No jealousy or bitterness between the two - they're exactly the same. Except that the Carbon's greater rarity should have an impact on its price, whether for purchase or speculation.
The first new model in the Kawasaki-Bimota era (butthe 4th Bimota motorcycle with a Kawa engine), the Tesi H2 is almost a rolling laboratory, with a chassis that represents the culmination of the Tesi concept. The front swingarm is coupled with a steering system based on a steering hub and specially complex links. Front suspension is offset under the seat, with an electronically-controlled Öhlins shock absorber doing the job. The rear suspension is tucked in next to it, forming a striking new duo in current production.
The H2's 4-cylinder block begins a new life in the Italian. It pushes a little harder, with 231 horsepower and over 14 mkg. A copious amount of power that requires a number of safeguards. The advantage of the alliance with Kawasaki is that the Tesi takes over all the H2's electronics: TFT dashboard (although we'd have liked something more personal), IMU inertial unit, ABS and KIBS braking, KCMF trajectory management, KEBC engine brake control, Shifter, Launch Control, and 9-level traction control.
With its razor-sharp design, bordering on the violent, the Tesi H2 is a far cry from the BB3 or DB11 of its recent history. A new identity? but still a concern for machined parts, fine materials and exceptional sensations. Crowned by a price even more elitist than before
