presentation of the R 1300 GS Dark Edition 2025
We’re not going to rehash the success of the 1300 GS yet again. Everyone’s well aware of it, and anyway, it’s practically a given with this model line. BMW France has decided to make a new move in this game with a special “Dark” edition. It reminds us a bit of how Ducati used to do this with some of its dark, stripped-down bikes to offer a more affordable price. With BMW, it’s the opposite: there’s more to it; but they’re also making an effort on the price.
A small dose for big impact?
Dressed entirely in black, this GS blends into the shadows and the asphalt. Fans will recognize the Triple Black version—a model featuring multiple layers of black and the Comfort Pack, which includes an electric windshield, a center stand, and more comfortable seats. The Dark Edition builds on this foundation by adding spoked wheels. A simple, tasteful formula, sure to satisfy those seekingthe essence of the GS.
Normally, with these features, the price rises to 22,645 euros. But where BMW really scores big is with its promotional offer (through the end of September), bringing this 1300 GS below the psychological threshold of 20,000 euros. Cheaper than a base GS with more features than a base GS—that’s impressive! By the way, that’s a savings of 2,745 euros.
It’s still a significant amount, but the R 1300 GS has plenty of selling points to keep it appealing. Its efficiency, its impressive dynamism, the power of its 145-hp twin-cylinder engine, and its image precede and sustain its reputation. It no longer really has the profile of a rugged adventurer or a seasoned veteran, but it’s leading the brand toward a new generation of exhilarating machines.

And it’s packed with features: to name just a few, the Shiftcam variable valve timing, the 6.5-inch color TFT display, traction control, cornering ABS, four riding modes, tire pressure monitoring, engine brake control, heated grips, keyless ignition, USB and 12V ports, the glove box… smartphone connectivity, cruise control… And a few options like the radar system, the ASA automated transmission, electronic suspension, heated seats… Etc., etc.
