The Nürburgring will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2027. To mark the occasion, BMW is dedicating three special-edition motorcycles to it , including the high-performance M 1000 XR. That works out perfectly, as it’s probably the best bike for traveling (quickly) to the track and then really letting it rip.
With 201 chevaux, the big XR is the most powerful crossover on the market. Not even Ducati’s Multistrada V4 RS is quite this insane. It’s more than enough to tackle the Nordschleife with passion, skill, and experience (the track is complicated and treacherous) while enjoying the exclusivity of a model unlike any other.
The visual impact, the power of the wild ones
It stands out immediately with its vibrant “Nürburgring Green” color, developed exclusively for this special edition. Only 9 machines will feature it: the 3 motorcycles from the M series of the BMW Motorrad division (M 1000 R, M 1000 RR, and M 1000 XR) and six cars from BMW M GmbH (M2, M3, M3 Touring, M4, M5, and M5 Touring). It’s striking, it stands out, and only BMW, Triumph, or Buell would dare to use such a vibrant color. And Kawasaki? Come on, come on—Akashi has been nailing this for a long time.
The S 1000 XR pays homage to the Nürburgring with a series of design touches:
- the silhouette of the Nordschleife on the side of the fuel tank
- An anniversary-edition airbox cover bearing the “one of 100” individual marking
- Carbon fiber wheels with Nürburgring Green accents
- An Alcantara-look seat embroidered with the number “100”
- Black components, including the rear swingarm and the rear frame loop
- The M Track Package
- An exclusive M motorcycle mat featuring the “100 Jahre Nürburgring” logo
- A workshop stand for the rear wheel.
With its high-performance models, BMW brings the spirit of the “Green Hell” to the road. 100 units of the M 1000 XR 100 Jahre Nürburgring Edition will be available worldwide. But which ones will actually get to experience the 20.8-km German track and its 73 turns?
