The K 1600 series represents not only the pinnacle of BMW touring, but also a top-ranking definition in the motorcycling world. The K 1600 B variant clearly has its eye on the States, with its Bagger definition, which is very much in vogue there. It's time to think bigger and further ahead. With its extra luggage and comfort, it's ready to take on the biggest highways. This BMW K 1600 couldn't be more aptly named: Grand America.

the K 1600 B is distinguished by a receding stern line. The design remains the same, but the rear is no longer airy, as a top-case is installed on board. There's no longer any question of traveling light: you can take along everything you need to extend your stay. This hold is equipped with a brake light to enhance visibility. This perfectly complements the luminous signage in the suitcases.
The in-line 6-cylinder engine remains the same piece of vigor and nobility as on the other K 1600s. A copious 160 hp and 17.8 mkg are on hand to ensure that everything runs smoothly. On the Grand America, it's not its strength but its momentum that is restrained. BM has limited the top speed to 162 km/h.

we are not looking for speed or performance aboard a bagger, tapered or boxy. We want cruising. The K 1600 Grand America is designed to give you just that, with its semi-active ESA Dynamic suspension and Driving Modes, protected by a larger, electrically adjustable windscreen, and with the added benefit of the K 1600 Grand America'slectrically adjustable windscreen, cruise control, heated grips and saddles, a full sound system, reverse gear and a series of electronic safeguards. These include ABS Pro and DTC traction control.

a beautiful plaque in the middle of the fuel tank underlines the machine's proud side. With the Style package, it's easy to switch to a dignified look. A two-tone dress covers the Grand America superbly, lined with chrome on the front fender.
The BM fleet is now complete: two high-class GTs for the old continent, and two baggers for the new.

The styling of the rear end is okay, but the front end is unsightly with its huge lighting block.
In terms of l\'agrément, when will bmw finally seriously review the tranismission of its in-line 6. This engine really deserves better.
