presentation of the Vision DC Roadster 2019
BMW reinterprets the future, almost constantly. With the emphasis now on its next keystone: electric. The brand is preparing a major offensive for the next few years on this front. There will be plenty of surprises. For the moment, only one of the 30 models in the range is powered by electrons. BM's vision of electric mobility today is the C-evolution scooter... and that's it.
The Vision DC Roadster concept-bike is a glimpse of the future. Less impressive than the Next 100 but more realistic, it symbolizes a space-time stage. An ultra-expressive, sporty roadster with a look that'll scrape you off every inch of the road. Not for tomorrow, but for the day after tomorrow. This machine is moved without a drop of oil to let go of almost a century of exploding engines. It does not, however, deny its relationship with the mother of all flat-twin BMs: the R32. And it does so discreetly.
To echo the Boxer engine, two cooling elements are installed on either side of the battery. In this way, BMW's identity crosses generations, without forgetting the astonishing in form and substance. These appendages open slightly outwards when the Vision DC Roadster is started up.

It's almost wiser when it comes to the front end. A Duolever-type fork takes pride of place here, ferocious as can be - it's impossible to see any connection with the K 1600. And yet, the design principle is identical.
With the fuel tank no longer necessary, the Vision DC Roadster installs a tubular frame to support an upper structure containing the minimalist seat.
The driver's interface, reduced to the essentials, allows monitoring of the fundamental parameters as well as one of the 4 driving modes engaged. The screen takes us into the near future, while the stylish handlebars are already 20 years ahead. The use of LEDs has enabled the design of sleek headlights with a powerful, dynamic style. As for the tires equipped with small fluorescent elements, don't expect to find them at your dealer. Metzeler made them exclusively for this concept.
The BMW Vision DC Roadster gives us a glimpse of the brand's electric future. That said, we won't be putting away the benzine mills at the back of the barn just yet. Reality is at the pump, whereas this concept makes us look through the prism of time. The world's supply of powered motorcycles, and a credible one at that, is on a par with Alphapage; now look what a Smartphone can do.
