Motorcycle specifications BMWM 1000 RR 50 Years M édition 2022 Golden jubilee and performance

This M 1000 RR is special. By its color, yes.... But above all for its BMW crest behind the carbon whiskers. The Bavarian propeller is richer in color, more dynamic with offset stripes. The symbol is that of BMW Motorsport, the manufacturer's racing arm. It appears on the fairing of this hypersport to celebrate its 50th anniversary.
The M 1000 RR 50 Years M Edition thus flirts with the sporting history of its progenitors. BMW created its motorsport division in 1972 to be more efficient and build testosterone-inducing models. The first was the 3.0 CSL coupé, a veritable devourer of victories. A few years later came the M1, a commercial flop but a legendary icon thanks to the famous drivers behind the wheel.
This division also handles the M3, M5, M6, M8, Z4M, X5M...in short, all the sports models in the range. But not motorcycles. The two-wheeled M's are inspired by this world, but not prepared for it. We're more interested in how the bike benefits from this celebration. In addition to its exuberance, it is equipped with the M Competition pack. This includes milled parts (folding levers, brake side protection, adjustable footrests and engine protectors), the M GPS-Laptrigger data logger for lap times, the passenger kit, the matching seat cover, the lightened swingarm, the virtually indestructible M chain and the carbon pack (mudguards, inner fairing returns, tank panels, chain guard, heel supports).
The fluorescent yellow color is as surprising as it is eye-catching. A big ///M takes over the sides of the tank, but that seems to be the only reference to BM's sports department. Why not opt for a blue / blue / white / red deco, the official Motorsport colors?
Because the "normal" M 1000 RR is already decked out in these colors. As a result, the deco staff chose the "Sao Paulo Yellow" shade, which the M4 Competition coupe debuted in 2021. A car with an ugly grille, but 510 horsepower and impressive performance.
Performance is the M 1000 RR's thing. At BMW, it's the basis of homologation for the World Superbike Championship. Suffice it to say, it's a nasty one. It gains weight, revises its geometry, strengthens its braking, improves its aerodynamics, produces more horsepower and revs more than the S 1000 RR. The electronics are very present, with shifter, traction control, wheeling control, engine braking, braking in curves, 7 riding modes, Launch Control, Pit Limiter, hill start assist, cruise control, color TFT screen..
BMW does not specify whether this is a limited series. There are no engravings or numbered badges to suggest this. But the rather hefty price tag makes it clear that this is a bike with a strong pedigree. Enthusiasts can place orders until the end of November.
