presentation of the XB-12 XT Ulysses 2010

the XB-12 chassis seems to provide Erik Buell with an inexhaustible source of possible variations. The latest addition is the Ulysses XT - a lower-slung version better equipped for the road than the standard Ulysses. More roadworthy, just as flashy, and as Buell as ever, this other edition of the Ulysses, called XB12XT, gets out of the ruts and ventures onto asphalt strips with smoother profiles.

in this XT version, the Ulysses gets a little closer to the ground. Suspension travel is reduced by 40 mm. The 2-tone fabric-covered seat is 28 mm lower than on the XB12 X. These modifications have reduced the seat height to 780 mm, making the XT more accessible than the X (the Scg roadster had already inaugurated this formula). Comfort is further enhanced by heated grips and saddlebags, fitted as standard. Protection is enhanced by the adoption of a larger windshield, equipped with an instant attachment and removal system that makes cleaning quick and easy. there are also 2 12V sockets.

on the passenger side, the raised rear seat offers as much room as possible (on a motorcycle that's still quite short), while a backrest further enhances comfort.backrest further enhances comfort, and sturdy handgrips enable the passenger to appreciate and control the Buell's evolution according to the moods of the rider and the big American twin.

more accessible and more "long-haul", the Ulysses XT is also less adventurous than the X. This is evidenced by the short suspension travels, the road tires (mixed on the X), and the removal of the "off-road beak" under the headlights... Buell has kept the handguards on the handlebars, however, to give it a provocative touch.
The XB12XT features a new version of the Thunderstorm twin. Revamped, improved and cleaner, the American twin develops a little less power than before, in favor of Euro3 compliance and greater reliability.
After shock, arsouiller, surprise, pistarder and barouder, the XB12 adds a new verb to its bow: travel.

11 months, 19,000 km and I'm still in love! in a duo it's a blast, but the passenger mustn't move too much (otherwise he's the one driving), otherwise it's great to ride in a "camping car" with suitcase racks and to do some good virolot with sports cars that think only of making fun of tractors!!! but that stay dry when you're waiting for them a few km further on !!!!!!
Grand V to all and come to Buell, it's only a short step to real pleasure!

4500 kms in 3 months and..

The original setting is too soft and, in fact, it's unstable even before 150KM/H and the forks dip too much. Just have the amortos adjusted at the dealership and off you go, 150, 180... and it's a rail!
A passenger?! Perfect for a Sunday afternoon ride of 200 km
A sidewalk, a curb, a speed bump, a "rolling" path..., who cares!
Engine, handling: In fact, with a Buell, and therefore the Ulysse, you get pleasure between "stopping" (they're great) and 120, 130, the ideal is cornering, and I angle, I angle... But I used to be reasonable
In fact, pleasure without "pushing to crime" these days. You can still "seriously" mess around with it and get on with it as long as there are bends!

The drawbacks (yes): you need to be over 1m80 tall, or even taller. The fan (and yes, it turns hard). And steering isn't his forte. But we forgive him everything, considering the rest

Signed: A happy biker

finally a motorcycle made for men.of course this motorcycle is not a t.t., but a t.c. like there are 4x4 city bikes, suvs, and lots of other vehicles marked 4x4 on the hood and with studded tires that will never taste mud. so gentlemen enjoy the look of this bike, the originality the noise and especially the sensations. i'm 40 years old i could look for a bmw to finish but last kilometers of straight line on this damned earth well no because during the test of this bike with the boss at the back the suitcases with a weight of 5kgs in each, i noticed that it had sharp turns!!!!!!!!!! even in straight line !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and all that in an armchair so young people i say to you GAZZZZZ to all and to the next one at the exit of a virlo!!!!! i'm quite surprised to read certain things that I thought were out of date. some people like braleti talk about tools for harley engines, he's right but he's 22 years too late, if he'd had a bit of information he'd know that porsche has been associated with harley since 1993 for engine design (certainly the best engine brand in terms of performance/reliability). as for the ulysse's off-road ability, I tested it and I can say I was surprised
you mustn't forget that this is an off-road bike, not a cross-country bike, but having said that, I think 140 km/h on sand and gravel tracks is not bad, and it's a really easy bike without any anarchic behavior. having tried practically everything on the market, I can say that it's very pleasant with character, and the best advice I can give is to try it out without delay. the only downside is the seat height and especially the width, since it's no higher than the lowest-set bmw 1200 gs. as soon as I receive mine, I have it professionally trimmed around the edges.

the same opinion as vince 13 (I think I was the person who tried the machine before he came to see it) and for me also the purchase is redhibitory if the quasition of the height remains in the state. I'm 1.78 m tall, and on the day of the test I was wearing special Alpine star motorcycle shoes, which should give you 2 cm more height, but it didn't: on the spikes! BE CAREFUL when maneuvering!! the slightest gutter and you're dead ... this is due to the fact that you're high up, of course, but also because the saddle is wide (pullman!). Another problem: that constant fan noise to cool the beast ... thermostat to be adjusted ?? its presence was really untimely ...
The beast shouldn't only look good when stationary ...
does anyone have any news on the regulation of these aspects

the only hix according to the tests (which I felt slightly but didn't have time to confirm) would be the swaying above 160 km. it's true that the front axle is very sensitive even at 100 km/h. Rating : 5/5

i don't really understand why anyone would deplore the fact that this beautiful machine isn't a real trail bike, since it isn't, and never wanted to be! The Buell doc leaves no doubt about it: at most, it's about being able to venture out on a rolling road. On the other hand, there's no doubt either about the sport-pleasure definition of this bike! This machine is a wonderful alternative to the traditional "categories": to be able to set off comfortably on a powerful, lightweight motorcycle, as a duo (high bubble optional, otherwise any good, careful DIYer will make one out of a sheet of Plexiglas) with 120 liters of luggage, and on top of that, to be able to have fun in the twisties: who doesn't dream of that? I'm lucky enough to own a bike that already meets these specifications (BMW R 1150 RS), but I'm almost ready to sacrifice a little protection for a good 40 kg and some engine character. This Buell is great news! Rating : 5/5

Well, I tried it out this weekend, and to tell you the truth, I had a blast again. pure happiness. very supple suspension, nice for comfort, combined with an ultra-rigid chassis, resulting in healthy cornering that's really enjoyable! outstanding torque, a delightful noise, a slightly supermotor position due to the fact that I don't have a big tank, and the braking is just fine! i was only touching the ground with the tips of my feet, but that's not what bothered me most, it's more the gearbox that's a bit firm, but you get used to that, I think! I'll just have to wait until March to buy it! what a joy! ps: to all those who take this bike for a tout, stop huffing and puffing! they say it can go on trails (easier than an R1) but it's not a machine for supercross either !!!! I went to see this new bike this weekend with my friends... It's very nice and I made an appointment to try it, it's really the kind of bike I like... BUT!...are they all giants in America??!! I'm 1m75 and I could barely touch one foot on the ground, askew..
Never had this problem before, be it BMW's latest GS or even the Multistrada... the Harley resp was really depressed, wondering which customers he was going to sell his new toy to... and starting to look for floors on the suspension, or the seat... a real rattage, which will put me off buying it if no solution is found... well done Buell people... to be continued after the test...

Although I'd like to see how effective it is off-road, this bike is not only attractive, but also respects the Buell and Harley philosophy
Having tested the 1200s, and then sat on the 1200Ss, the longer chassis makes it much more comfortable for taller riders (+1.80 m)
On the other hand, I'm laughing at your comment about tools
I do an average of 1000 km/week on my Harley (20,000 since I bought it in August 2004, and I don't ride it in the salt), and the tool kit was used to replace a blinker bulb.

Well, you can't say it's ugly, it's better looking than a BMW trail (yuck!) and when it comes to efficiency, you can't get off the highway. It's all the rage at the moment, off-roaders that don't have to cross anything... both in the car and on the bike, for that matter. If it's for showing off on the terrace of the nearest rade, that's more than enough. What's more, a Harley engine? Don't forget your tools!!!! Rating : 5/5
Very ugly indeed

As for the big ring gear 20 cm from the ground and the front disc touching the rim, it's best not to leave the asphalt!

Great, I'd go for a V-Strom, but the Buell looks much better, and there's no chain to grease or retighten
Can't wait to see it at the Paris show
On the other hand, the price is a Buell price too..

Well, it doesn't really look like a trail bike or a supermot, just a bit higher suspension and some vague studs on the tires

That said, it's a very nice machine... but it's a bit cheeky to try and sell it to us as a trail bike or a supermot à la buell

It's pretty nice, in the same style as the BM trails, but it's a shame about the pot, which is likely to rub on a TT or even a TC. Rating : 5/5

Superb bikeo!!!! my only regret is the pot that stays under the engine for an off-roader that doesn't do it.... Finally, a hell of a best seller!!!!! it's BM and ducat who are going to suffer!
