presentation of the 1160 XDiavel V4 2025
The XDiavel was the last recipient of a big Ducati V-Twin. The final recipient in a line of large, impressively bored machines. With the new XDiavel V4, Bologna's last muscular twin-cylinder, the famous Testastretta DVT 1262, concludes its career and passes the baton to Ducati's now flagship engine: the V4.
Less exotic, less dry in its curves than the XDiavel V2, this new cruiser is nonetheless muscular and charismatic. It knows and can show its teeth as well as its growl, with its engine of a different temperament.
The devil in the pistons.
After the Panigale, Multistrada, Streetfighter and Diavel, it's the XDiavel's turn to be powered by a 4-cylinder V-twin. The motorcycle loses its cultural engine architecture for a more compact block, with a different character and higher power levels. Horsepower climbs to 168, 8 units more than the previous XDiavel. Torque is slightly lower, but there's still 12.8 mkg of muscle in the belly. On the other hand, these maximum values are reached at much higher revs than with the previous model.
He doesn't care. He's happy to harangue that he's one of the most powerful power-cruisers in the world. Ahead of him, only the Triumph Rocket 3 Storm dares to pack more watts. And much more weight: the British model is almost 80 kg heavier. In Bologna, the XDiavel weighs in at just 229 kg (to which must be added some 20 liters of fuel) - a 6 kg reduction on the previous model.
Less symbolism, more technology
Once we've accepted the fact that we can no longer see the engine or its stylized machining markings, we take time to admire the new star-shaped wheels with their machined spokes; especially the rear one, which stands out thanks to its single-spoke design and is 240 mm wide. We bend our throats to realize that the trellis frame has been scrapped - it's been replaced by an aluminum monocoque frame - settle into the wide saddle, prop our feet forward and tell ourselves that lightning is about to take over. Fortunately, the Italian beast is guided by a large 50 mm inverted fork and stopped by huge 330 mm brake discs, themselves bitten by Stylema calipers. Quite simply, the same gear as the previous-generation Panigale V4 hypersport.

A Ducati proudly defends its design, its power, its premium aura - and its electronics. On board are a new, larger 6.9-inch TFT color display, 4 riding modes, traction control, shifter, wheeling control, IMU for fine-tuning certain assistants, cornering ABS, 3 power modes, Launch Control, cruise control, Bluetooth module for smartphone connectivity and backlit controls.
The XDiavel V4 takes on a different kind of beauty and bestiality from its predecessor, which explored a new identity and new challenges for the Bologna-based brand. It has more watts, more desire, almost more sensuality, and demands much more reverence: destined to replace the XDiavel S, it demands 3,000 euros more.
Or even 8,000 since the XDiavel Dark, the previous basic version. If the devil burns in hell, his hand will have the same effect on your wallet.
