presentation of the 996 SPS FOGARTY REPLICA 1999
the launch of the 996 SPS Fogarty Replica is not just a publicity coup for Ducati and for Fogarty, one of the most talented riders ever to ride a Bolognese. It's also a necessity to raise the performance level of the 996 Superbike. Indeed, the factory wanted to use a new frame for its racing machine. But under the regulations, you don't put in a new chassis like changing brake pads. Ducati therefore produced this limited series (200 units, the minimum required at the time for homologation of a new SBK configuration) in the colors of Carl's machine. A great honor for this British rider, 4-time WSBK world champion. With its new frame, this 996 SPS features a larger airbox, increasing the power of the big twin desmoquattro. In addition to Ducati Team sponsor stickers, the 996 SPS Foggy is fitted with Termignoni carbon silencers and lighter Marchesini rims.
As Carfl Fogarty is an English rider, Ducati chose to market this series only in the UK. However, 4 examples were homologated in France.
