presentation of the 695 Monster 2007
As the Monster range slowly approaches the 200,000 mark, Ducati continues to rejuvenate its range with the replacement for the 620: the new 695 Monster.
For such an important machine, there's no question of doing things by halves. The desmodromic twin-cylinder increases in bore and stroke to 695 cm3. With larger, super-square combustion chambers, the engine-makers were able to fit larger valves (increased from 41 to 43 mm for the intake and from 35 to 38 mm for the exhaust) and also lower the piston's linear speed for greater reliability and longevity. What's most memorable is the leap in performance of the little Bolognese twin: +13 hp.
The new little Monster develops as much power as the old 800 Monster (let's not even mention the 750), and comes almost intimidatingly close to the 800 S2R - the latter unashamedly distinguished by its S4R look. Torque also increases to 6.2 mkg, at the same rpm as the 620. In addition to the undeniable added mechanical pleasure, the 695 retains the APTC clutch, which offers greater smoothness and limits torque effects on deceleration.
Still on the subject of hospitality, the Ducati makes an effort to be more accessible. With the seat lowered by 30 mm, getting on the legendary Mostro will be easier for short legs. Then it's just a matter of trusting the traditional trellis frame guided by a big 43 mm Marzocchi upside-down fork. At just 168 kg dry weight, the 695 will be a toy to swing from curve to curve. The manufacturer points out that a special effort has been made to hide wires and hoses in the finish, to make the tubular frame more elegant.
Are we witnessing a new evolution in Ducati mechanics? Bologna tells us that the 695 is the most efficient engine in the air-cooled twin series, and that the service interval has been extended from 10,000 to 12,000 km. But is this really the most important thing after 170,000 units sold?!

Bikers' reviews Leave a review - 44 reviews
since my purchase i've done 18000 km, no problems, a real pleasure. Rating : 5/5 Respond to nononani
My only complaint: the engine's incipient electronic management when you're riding on a trickle. The fault lies with the lambda sensor treatment, which is easy enough to correct for smoother operation.
All in all, a very good bike that I really enjoyed riding, and very reliable when properly maintained. Rating : 4/5 Respond to Shrek
Reliable bike (never had any problems), low insurance (2 times less expensive than my R6), inexpensive (12,000 revision at 190€) and low fuel consumption (with DP pot, K&N and 14 sprocket, I easily do 220km, record 240km with a full tank). In short, nothing but good things. People stop and talk to me like motorcycle enthusiasts. On the R6, it's all about the youngsters, "how much you can do with it", "how often you lift the wheel"...
After that, I admit I'm sometimes tempted to have a bit more peach, but after thinking about it, is it really necessary or is it just a little whim because a guy overtook me in a straight line because just before, in a bend, he got eaten up... it's up to each one of us.
My only complaint is that the saddle is too low. Maybe that's why I'd consider switching to another model... Ducati of course! The 695 is the lowest monster, 770mm where the 800cc and 1000cc are 800mm. Another minor complaint is that the shifter and brake pedal scrape a lot, so you can put on some cr, but I'm already bent in half..
In short, it's still a pleasure to ride, and even to look at. Rating : 5/5 Respond to Guguin
I've always wanted a monster but the design of the other models left me perplexed!
I'm going to buy it this summer...YOUPI;) Rating : 5/5 Respond to luca25

Can't wait to have it! Rating : 5/5 Respond to CPMPb
Updated with a led taillight, a digital dashboard, a row of leds separating the high and low beam, the two exhaust pipes that balance everything out and a beautiful pearly white finish!
I think I'm going to fall for it!!!
Thanks Ducati. Rating : 5/5 Respond to Benb
First step successful, and I'm off to ducat to reserve it, but in pearly white..
In any case, I think this evolution of a sacred monster has been a success, unlike Honda, which massacred the Hornet, turning it into an old piece of plastic that drives like a 103 Spx (a monkey could ride it with no worries, it's so insipid) Rating : 5/5 Respond to micmic
It may come as a shock, but I think the result is rather successful. A more aggressive look, more watts, and above all the "Mostro" spirit still present.... "in spite of the remarks of the refractory"
It remains to be seen whether the behavior of this beast will remain the same: torque to make the nipones weep, despite its small displacement, a very forgiving chassis (LOL I tested it LOL), easy and agile handling making it accessible to all !!!!
I went from a Mostro 600 Carbu to an S2R100 and they make Ch... if they come out with the 1000Cm3 version I'll probably give in!!!!
Bravo et Merci DUCAT.... Rating : 5/5 Respond to Mgjeff2000
I've had my motorcycle license since October, but I need a year's savings to get started with the brand of my dreams: Ducati
This bike has come to torture my dreams, losing me in my original choice of a Ducati S2R 800... What's the choice: living with the times or staying true to the old?
I'm waiting to see this new model in real life, but I think it's going to make me fall in love with it, and finally, for Christmas 2008, this is the bike I'll be discovering. Rating : 5/5 Respond to Zephyrios
Same goes for the 916, ST2, etc...!
Just kidding, of course. Happy owner of two Mostros (1000, then S2R), I think I've finally found my future mount (with a slightly "bigger" engine, maybe...)
I remain loyal to Ducat'. Rating : 5/5 Respond to Marco
destroy such a beautiful silouhette of the most beautiful roadsters in the world.........:(
i had 3 ducati, including 2 mostro, and this is the disappointment, i knew it was going to happen but i expected something too close to perfection instead of the disappointment we see now Rating : 5/5 Respond to desmodAX
i'm keeping my s4 Rating : 5/5 Respond to psgr1
I think it's particularly good, and I might just fall for it if they release it in 1000
Bravo, Italians! Your products are still the stuff of dreams... Rating : 5/5 Respond to Raph
(I need to find the money to buy an S2r 1000 before they change it too) Rating : 5/5 Respond to AxL
When will it be available? I couldn't find this information. Rating : 5/5 Respond to jgar
no kidding, they killed the monster, but i'm pro ducati and the monster was my bike, in short
disappointed..

and long may it last!!! I love it!
all original because of varied roads
for me no PSB 14 compromise taken for freeway
200 km range before reserve
220 km in 1 go (countryside, freeway) with big bursts of throttle for top speed which is effectively 200/...210 lying on the tank hidden behind the dials.
first overhaul confirmed from 1000 to 95 €
very realistic price compared to 200€ I must admit
(the shop manager called the workshop to find out if my invoice was correct, which made one of the mecano's laugh, this manager told me I had to frame my invoice, it was his first at this price)
DESMO PASSION in lille for 'DOM'!!! va geuler !
PS: saddle height (S2r) at 800mm, my size 1.76
super-comfortable attack position (for concentration it helps) no better than on other bikes in its class
the position won me over..
for those interested... Rating : 5/5 Respond to Tefff
and long may it last!!! (1000Km service = 95€ !!!)
the gap between the 1 and the 2 could make me follow Thierry's advice
who has very accurate impressions for me
(not only him of course!)...Voila! Rating : 5/5 Respond to Tefff
After nearly 20 years of cross, enduros, trails all jap, I have just bought "that" 1 month ago and I made 2600 km with;my impressions are rather good (very good?)
1: first of all, change the PSB from 15 to 14 teeth, it transfigures it, in particular you can ride around town avoiding the gap between 1 and 2 and above all 5 and 6 become usable...
2:3-face engine (but you don't know until you've run it in) from 0 to 5,000 mellow, nice and round, but there's no risk of tendonitis
from 5 to 7500 it's much better, it goesllllllllllonger
from 7000 7500 to.....the noise changes completely, the road narrows, it really pushes, you end up with gibbon forearms, you know what I mean!
3:top-notch front braking, soft but firm attack, very effective if you push harder, while remaining controllable throughout the stroke; the rear, on the other hand ... hmmm for the bike's trim, but no more, it blocks very easily
4:rigid frame, easy to handle, fairly stable, but in any case it doesn't go very fast, around 200 mph (reached much more easily with the 14 PSB)
5:I'm surprised by the original fitment, or maybe it's normal with a tourer (by which I mean, in my crooked mouth: something with no nipples and over 50 horsepower). The rear end chases a LOT: at 30 kph in a second, when you (gently) step on the gas in a medium-grip bend, it's "holiday on ice" and the front end tends to "fall" when you lean...these are Bridgestone BT 56s..
6:autonomy to be reviewed because 220 km max, and the reserve is very small...37 kms in winding...I had to push...
i must have forgotten a few things
Ah yes, to finish, expensive servicing (273 euros for the 1000 km service...) and for example 600 euros for the 24000 km service, where you change the distri belts (by the way, it's only worth 30 euros x 2), so you might think you're padding the bill a bit...
bon route à tous et à plus Rating : 5/5 Respond to thierry
i plan to use it exclusively for my own pleasure, as I keep my FJR to travel with my wife
i look forward to receiving it ...
ah how long a week is

As soon as I'm hired, it arrives in the garage to replace my 600 monster, which will end up in a car. Rating : 5/5 Respond to fanducat27
i don't know, but this new ducati looks like an excellent bike to start over with Rating : 5/5 Respond to Armando
