Ducati’s stunning custom bike is joining the celebrations for the brand’s 100th anniversary. The XDiavel V4 100’s livery is inspired by the graphics of the special 750 Super Sport dubbed the “California Hot Rod,” the bike on which Cook Neilson made Ducati history by winning the Daytona race in 1977. This event was of paramount importance, as it was the first time an Italian motorcycle had won a production race in the United States—a success that greatly contributed to boosting Ducati’s popularity and sales abroad.
In the mid-1970s, Ducati’s presence in the United States was essentially limited to a single model, the Scrambler, a quasi-off-road bike imported by the Berliner brothers. But everything changed in 1977 thanks to Cook Neilson’s memorable triumph on the Daytona oval track.
The XDiavel V4 100 stands out, even within the 100 collection, thanks to its leather seat adorned with the embroidered Ducati 100 logo and the solid-machined center section of the handlebar, on which the name and serial number are engraved on a riveted Centennial Bronze-finished plate—high-quality mechanical details. The dry clutch makes the riding experience even more personalized. Standard equipment includes a leather passenger seat, a Centennial Bronze fuel cap ring, and an open clutch cover (the latter not approved for road use).
