presentation of the 1098 S Tricolore 2007

as is customary with Ducati, the new hypersport from Bologna comes in several versions. There's already the traditional 1098 "standard", "S", and a high-pedigree "R" version to round off another prestigious family. Come on, let's not be so quick to sum up the birth of a beautiful new hypersports family. Especially when the S version shares the bedroom with a very fashionable sibling.

she's young, she's fun-loving, she goes out on the town, she's got a green belly, white shoulders and red cheeks... Her name is "Tricolore". She's a true Italian girl, a fan from day one and as wiggly as the morning. This special livery for the 1098 S will not be available until 2007.

if its colors seem more than familiar, it's not just because it's been machine-washed with the Italian flag without the Decolorstop wipe... but also because you may have seen this deco on a Ducati before. Yes ? No ? Look hard enough. Come on..., the first sports car with desmoquattro... Still no? Yes, it is: the 851, the first version from 1988, which cost an eyeful (or two, depending on the version), and was flanked by a frankly... period decor. The 1098 S Tricolore, although in the same colors, benefits from the care of a team of designers more lively and delicate than in the past.

Ducati 1098 S Tricolore 2007Aside from these colors, the Tricolore is based on the 1098 S, with a few minor improvements. From the 1098 we find the trellis frame, the Testastretta Evoluzione twin with its 160 horsepower, the super-single-sided swingarm and monobloc radial brake calipers. The S adds to this a 43 mm diameter Öhlins FG511 inverted fork, Marchesini forged-aluminum wheels (1.9 kg lighter than the normal 1098 wheels), an Öhlins 46PRC rear shock absorber, a bit of carbon, and a data acquisition system. All you have to do is retrieve the USB key stashed under the passenger seat after your ride, then consult your telemetric record on the computer.

the Tricolore adds to all this a beautiful gold paint job on the frame and rims, as well as some stuff to give the engine a vitamin boost. A good pair of Termignoni Racing carbon exhausts with the little electronic chip that goes with them. Enough to throw a dozen more horses and 102 db into the ears of the neighbor... er, of the circuit. The result is a Ducat with a power-to-weight ratio of 1:1.
The container is tempting, the content is boiling hot, the elegance is insistent - it could well be that the 916 has found its worthy heir, with an even more pronounced patriotism.

Superb return to basics with "current" technology, magnificent bike, especially the Tricolore. I'd almost part with my MS4R, pampered for this one, Rating : 5/5

Ducati screwed up the trick with the 999, but now it's like going back to basics, and it's a blast. It's sublimely magnificent
A little more work and later, it'll be mine....but when :'(

bella diva what superlatives
my voxan vb 1 found as beautiful if not more
i still keep my diva because it's very rare
but what the hell the 1098 is beautiful and what a mill 160hp it is especially on a twin
one small problem: price and maintenance, but do you buy a Ducati thinking about savings?

The price of quality is more like Kawasaki, Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha, at least if you equate Quality with Reliability

And then this Ducati has a dashboard with no rev counter needles, you'd think you were dreaming.

madre de dios!!!!!! que bella! still very expensive, but that's the price of quality. Changing for a Ducati is the sign of a passion... which is expensive. Bonne route! BBBBBBbbbbbrrrrrrrrrrroooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!! Rating : 5/5
