presentation of the HM 1100 HYPERMOTARD evo SP 2010
ducati dispenses its sporty genes wherever there's a whiff of powder, angle or glide. For big supermotard fans who want even more, there's also the SP version of the Hypermotard. A name you'd associate with a sports bike. This HM SP is directly derived from the HM 1100 Evo and benefits from all the latter's improvements: a more powerful and lighter engine, new pistons, alternator and camshafts, a Streetfighter-style instrument panel and controls, new side scoops, and 7 + 1 kg less weight (the Evo is 7 kg lighter than the HM 2009, the SP version is 1 kg lighter than the Evo), bringing the total weight down to 171 kg.
The SP version is sporty, much sportier. The 50 mm inverted fork offers 30 mm more travel, and 30 mm more ground clearance. A fully adjustable Öhlins element completes the rear end. A few pieces of carbon are added here and there. Handlebars are 20 mm wider. Want more? No problem. For the ultimate in efficiency, the wheels are Marchesini forged alloys surrounded by top-quality Brembo braking: the same monobloc radial calipers used on the 1198 superbikes. Two judges are on call: soft rubber pads with worn edges to prove your attack, and on-board telemetry equipment, the DDA (Ducati Data Analyser), to check your performance on a PC. There's definitely some Ducati Superbike in this HM. Of course, the 1100 Hypermotard Spécial Performances is no damsel of joy. The seat height peaks at 875 mm and the price is close to that of a hypersport. And yet, the SP models are sure to be the best-sellers. The options available from Ducat' will enable you to push the level of preparation even further, until you have a machine that's as beautiful to detail as it is to ride.
