presentation of the SportClassic 1000 GT Touring 2009
Riding a Ducati is always a little (or a lot) like sharing a story, a character, or even grasping more than an emotion. Riding a SportClassic goes even further, as this family draws its inspiration from Ducati history and makes it its own in the design of its silhouettes. As the most versatile member of the family, the 1000 GT is a natural candidate for a more... road-going. This is how a GT Touring version came into being, equipped for a good pace and practicality.
sometimes a little goes a long way. Here, the GT Touring's presence is marked by chrome front and rear mudguards. Just the thing to make the headlights shine and the sun shine just above the wheels. So much for the finery. But the Touring appellation takes on its full meaning with the generous windscreen and chrome package holder. One will ease the strain on your arms and neck, while the other, with passenger grips, will provide a bit of cargo and extra support for the passenger.
it changes the look, it expands the possibilities (a little), but it doesn't detract from the GT 1000 in any way. Its delicate retro flavour spreads unabashedly, enlivened by the character of the Desmo twin with 2 valves per cylinder. This air-cooled 992 cm3 is the only engine you can think of, and the performance "liquids" would swear by it. The 92 horsepower available are dry and invigorating. This block, from the Monster, is equipped with a 6-speed gearbox. The only real complaints are the long final drive and the clutch, which needs some grip. With its renowned twin-cylinder engine, plumb chassis, somewhat committed geometry and relative flexibility, this GT retains a Ducati temperament that's both demanding and endearing.
