presentation of the SCRAMBLER 800 Cafe Racer 2019
The 800 Café-Racer takes advantage of the Scrambler's evolution to improve its technical features and radically change its look. What a look! From the deep, elegant black and gold of the last few seasons, it's now transported by a silver and grey from the 125 GP Desmo of the '50s. Its azure-dipped frame slams with electrification. An almost hand-crafted preparation, judiciously complemented by a pair of spoked rims, replacing the spoked wheels. This phase 2 of the 800 Scrambler Cafe Racer is a full-bodied confection, making you crave joviality as much as counter racing.
dac, new shoes, a most engaging deco - is this the essence of its evolution? Well, not exactly. It's what's most obvious.
Like theIcon and its siblings, this Scrambler receives a series of improvements designed to raise the level of riding pleasure without changing the philosophy. The big front brake disc remains, with improved ABS - the Cornering version modulates brake pressure according to angle. New suspension settings are applied while clutch control becomes hydraulic. What's more, the seat is thicker and the hands are easier to hold thanks to adjustable levers.
forget the colors for a moment, feel the pulse of the twin and hang on to the racing position. The Cafe Racer is fitted with sport tires (Pirelli Diablo Rosso III), 17-inch rims and a Termignoni pot smelling of arsouille. Then it's down to a series of small details to complete the package. You'd better believe it: a minimalist headlamp cover, handlebar-mounted mirrors, a seat cover, a small chequered flag on the sides of the tank, and a large number plate. With a 54... A reference? Yes, to Bruno Spaggiari, who won the 1968 Mototemporada romagnole, a racing series that opened the season.
in short, style and conviction, but that doesn't mean we're going to get into the racing spirit... You can't ask too much of the 73-hp twin. It's perfectly suited to the Scrambler spirit, whether Icon, Desert Sled or Classic. But telling it to think it's at an Ace Café fight is just too much. But let's not hold it against the rider, who'll get a real kick out of it.
Braking is adequate for the power developed: 330 mm disc and 4-piston radial caliper, ABS, and a 256 mm disc at the rear. To really get into the racer spirit, a double disc would have been in order to complement the inverted fork.

Too expensive compared to the more powerful fz6 yammaha, larger tank capacity (17.5L) and so on...
Nevertheless, very pleasant to drive. A pleasure too. I see it more in the 6500 to 6800 euro price bracket... Rating : 4/5 Respond to ricki
