presentation of the 950 Hypermotard SP 2019
Let's make one thing clear: with the Hypermotard 950 SP, the fun's over! It's all about BIG fun... with the seriousness of a good dose of riding. A sportier, better-equipped version, this Ducati supermotard is a clear step up in terms of dynamic performance. It's all about spinning, and it likes it.
the 950 HM has undergone a major update, with a slightly more powerful twin, a redesigned silhouette, an under-seat pot, lightened ergonomics and a new look.ergonomics, new frame, TFT color display), it's only natural that the higher-performance version should follow suit. There have been SPs in this family for almost 10 years, ever since the 1100 Evo; there's no question of letting the melting pot cool down.
Just stir it to simmer. That's the feeling you'll get first with the traditional "Ducati Corse" decor. The sporty thrill is confirmed by the Öhlins suspension. Quality tools for improved ground contact and increased efficiency. The inverted fork has been reduced in diameter from 50 mm on the 939 SP to 48 mm on the 950 SP. It is adjustable in all directions, as is the monoshock from the same manufacturer. Increased travel (+15 mm front / +25 mm rear) offers greater ground clearance, even more aggressive cornering (3° more, i.e. 47°) and an even higher seat height. The seat culminates at 890 mm, not far from the height of an enduro machine and higher than that of a trail bike like the latest 700 Ténéré.

A little weight has been saved here and there. With the aforementioned peripherals, and the carbon front mudguard and timing belt covers. As a result, the 950 SP weighs 2 kilos less than the standard version, and 3 less than the 939 it replaces.
same brakes, same amount of power and same electronics between the 950 and the SP. Except for one detail: the Up&Down shifter is fitted as standard. We'd have liked a few more watts or racing calipers, like the M50s, to make our mark. Let's not complain too much, though: there's already plenty to do with the 937 cm3's 114 horsepower, the exciting chassis and, if required, on-board assistance. Ducat's safety package is always well-supplied, with cornering ABS, three driving modes, traction control and anti-wheeling supervised by a 6-axis inertial unit. A DRL visual signature in the headlamp and a USB socket complete the tech package.
there's no need to dwell on the price - we know it's going to sting. That's the downside of big toys for adults. The Hypermotard is a perfect illustration. Nervous, fun, fearsome in the twisties and gripping as can be, this machine is still aimed at a particular clientele, but will give many the desire to have some serious fun.
