presentation of the 1690 SOFTAIL FAT BOY FLSTF 2017
this is certainly the bike that most epitomizes the Harley spirit. Introduced in the 90s, the "big" bike is a hymn to the rebellious post-war era. As its name suggests, everything about the Fat Boy is imposing: wheels (beautiful full rims), forks, optics - a real man's bike. The cinema has made it legendary: it's nothing less than Schwarzeneger's mount in Terminator 2. Born 1/4 of a century ago with the 1340, this Softail has gone through a series of twin models, culminating in the 1690 High Output. Even more power, fatness and torque. Its maximum of 12.7 mkg is reached at 3000 rpm. The FLSTF features optimized handlebar curvature for greater comfort and ergonomics.
for ride and comfort, wide, low handlebars (like the footrests), seat flush with the cylinder heads; for the eye, authentic looks and gleaming chrome - a true Softail with its rigid sub-frame and pure Harley. The adoption of the 103 B twin-cylinder engine is more in keeping with this big custom than ever. Muscle buried in metal, belching with every demand, and vibrations toned down thanks to a balancing weight. The beauty from Milwaukee treated itself to more rigorous handling a long time ago, in 2000. More rigorous rear-end combinations since the switch to the 1450 engine have improved passage over small bumps, and better brakes have significantly calmed the beast. A 200 mm rear tire doesn't make agility any easier, but it does give the "Boy" even more "Fat". Docile thanks to its wide, larger handlebars (which integrate the cabling), you have to be reasonable, as too much angle quickly files the wide running boards. Like virtually all Harley-Davidson models, the Fat Boy is equipped with ABS as standard. For 2015, La Moco has increased the willingness and capacity of the braking system. The front disc is enlarged from 292 to 300 mm. The caliper and master cylinder are redesigned, with the latter also benefiting from a performance-enhancing design. The high-friction pad material reduces lever effort by almost half. Harley claims 40% less for optimal braking.
