presentation of the 1870 Street Glide Special Arctic Blast Limited Edition FLHXS 2021
To freshen up this summer*, Harley is offering a limited edition of the Street Glide Special, a delicious cocktail of whipped cream, dark chocolate and ice mint in a color called Arctic Blast. In this way, the company demonstrates its artistic possibilities, both in terms of quality and customization.
Described as a "bagger hot rod", it blends the warmth of the mechanical tradition with the lightness of its pearly coat. In retrospect, we'd go so far as to say that the chief designer fell for an old GSX-R poster. You only have to get a little closer to realize that the big twin, 1868 cm3 and 16.1 mkg, is in no way a sports engine. Big, fat, hearty muscle, powerful but not angry, that's the American block.
As long as you get up close, you can make out details like the hexagonal pattern on the fork head, the glitter mixed in with the deep blue, and the discreetly marked serialization on the edges of the tank. It's easy to see that this is one of only 500 examples sold worldwide.
Craftsmen from the Gunslinger Custom paint shop (City of Golden, Colorado) applied the decoration by hand. A logical choice for Harley, given that they are the suppliers of paint components for CVO models.
It 's not a CVO, even if the color scheme tends to make you think so. Custom Vehicle Operations motorcycles benefit from special paint AND additional equipment. This is not the case with the Arctic Blast, whose equipment and engine have not been upgraded.
So it's only this color that makes it special!?! Yes, but that's not all: let's add the number of units produced and the additional price compared to the Street Glide Special Vivid Black (base model), which alone is capable of breaking a molar. 5,900 euros, the salary of a Member of Parliament.
