A great lady bids farewell. A motorcycle like no other: a big roadster with a smooth, muscular 4-cylinder and no underlying violence or fighting spirit; just strength and elegance, as the CB 1300 has proudly presented itself for some twenty years. But this is the end. Honda closes its history with this Final Edition.

This bike will have maintained the roadster archetype in its most obvious definition right up to the end. Nothing futuristic, manga-like or tortured. Just a raw, assertive, timeless presence, a direct descendant of the Big-One of the '90s. In fact, the latest "Graphite Black" color takes its inspiration from the first CB 1000 model. The CB 1300 SF also gets a "Final Edition BIG-1" sticker on the tank, a silver finish for the fork and swingarm, and a gold-plated drive chain.

The mechanical muscle

The engine is a big, fat, 16-valve, DOHC multi-cylinder with a central timing chain that guarantees 113 horsepower and 11.4 mkg of torque. There's no need to overwork this block - it's the kind of full-blooded engine that propels you forward without needing to be overworked.
Time hasn't rushed it while the technology around it has taken it to new heights of possibility. Today, it comes with an assisted, anti-dribble clutch, three riding modes (Standard / Sport / Rain), cruise control and optional shifter. Bear in mind that the first model (2003) only offered ABS... as an option.

The chassis also retains its philosophy, with a double-cradle steel frame, classic Showa suspension components (non-inverted forks and two side shocks), axial brake calipers from Nissin to bite 310 mm tracks with their 4 pistons, more modest rear braking with a 256 mm disc assisted by a single piston, and an aluminum swingarm with a nice cross-section.

This bike seems to have stopped in time, preserving the best of its existence. Even the speedometer has (almost) stood the test of time. Only a central digital window has taken its place to display the fruits of technological evolution. All lighting is now LED. Heated grips are also fitted as standard.

A sibling to conclude

3,400 units of this model and its 3 siblings will be built, at a price equivalent to 10,800 euros. Honda is giving itself time to build them, to ensure both sales and quality. If necessary, production will continue until October 2026. This latest model will only be available in Japan.

The big roadster used to have a different meaning. There was a time when the Yamaha XJR 1300, Suzuki GSX 1400, Kawasaki ZRX 1200 and CB 1300 were the barons of the road. Then came the streetfighters to oust them from their thrones. In Japan, the story has lasted until now. And in style, as the Super Four concludes its journey with four models. This one, the SP version with Öhlins suspension, the streamlined Super Bol d'or and the SP version - Les frangines, which I mentioned earlier.
