presentation of the Z 900 RS Café Performance 2018
Kawasaki has succeeded with the Z 900 RS. A fine exercise in neo-retro that knows how to charm, with a very good mix of the brand's past, a dose of technology and quality dynamic performance. Yet the beginning seemed daring, almost lame. Taking a sporty roadster like the Z 900 and turning it into a Retro Sport version bordered on the audacious, and it worked.
a rounder engine, with gin and tonic moved from the top to the middle of the rev counter, traction control, better suspension and more advanced braking - all in a Z1 silhouette. Clearly, Kawa has come up with a real treat. Add to this a Café version that makes you feel like you're in a 70s endurance race, and you've got yourself a party.
The picture wouldn't be complete without a version that's just a tad barkier. For this, the Performance recipe is well known in the manufacturer's range. The main ingredient is an Akrapovic muffler. The antiphons of the 4-cylinder will gain in harmony, sprinkled with a slight gain in weight and power.
A performance package can't be designed with just one goodie. The essential fuel tank protector is also included, as are a set of casing protectors. Far more distinguished than the castors of yesteryear, they could be mistaken for chassis reinforcements.
tempting and stylish, the Kawasaki Z 900 RS Café Performance plays its 1000 Z2R interpretation to the hilt, even more so than the Café. If the Godier and Genoud styling doesn't appeal to you, you're in danger of missing out. As for the price, we're starting to approach the upper echelons of the market. Within striking distance of a NineT Racer or 1100 Scrambler.

Perhaps a little expensive, but superbly made, I've yet to find any fault with its build quality, and it's a real pleasure to ride.
All that's left now is to fit it with spoked rims (yes, it does sting a bit...) to make it one of the most beautiful neo-retro machines of the moment!
In short, I think it'll be with me for many more miles... Rating : 5/5 Respond to jean-Luc24430
