With its 400 Five Hundred, Mash has come to take a slice of the neo-retro market... with a real retro bike. If the bike's styling and mechanics give the impression of being 40 years old, that's because they really are - or almost. The Sino-French motorcycle offers everything classic, with the simplicity and technology of yesteryear. The result is a great price and a look that's totally in the spirit of vintage fashion.

a small special edition completes the catalog. After the "too much" Von Dutch series, here's a Chromium version. With its chrome-plated steel tank (hence the name of the machine), the Five Hundred tackles the light and jolts the eye immediately. A flash that's more funky than hipster, but trendy - everyone has in one way or another fallen for the Guzzi V7 Racer.
The engine, recently upgraded to Euro4 with Delphi injection, has had its fins polished. To complete the look, the overstitched saddle is finished with an inverted skin.

the glitz works, and the road unfolds with the same sought-after phlegm. The Five Hundred's mono is designed for cruising and taking it easy. This time with a sparkle between handlebar and saddle.

A lot of Mash bashing and yet it's a nice bike for a ride and a coffee. Good looks, easy maintenance (just download the full PDF manuals), cheap parts. Given the discount I'm going to buy one, you can find them in new condition at 2KE. I tried the first model in 2015 and zero stalling. The importer's communication was disastrous in France and they wanted to make people believe in a French bike when this model is sold in many countries under various brands. Bad strategy.
