presentation of the Brutale 1090 R 2012
after the Brutale 920, MV-agusta continues its conquest of the general public by once again offering a renowned machine at a more affordable price. The target: the bloodthirsty; the tool: the big 4-legged 1078 cm3; the cavalry: 144 horses that gallop without mercy. Here's a more muscular road companion than the 920 to complete the range.
the price argument always has an effect, especially when the factory offers a Brutale 1090 for 5,000 euros less. Wow! What's the catch!?! There isn't one. But if you look closely and pay attention to the name, you'll quickly see why the price is competitive with the competition. This Brutale is called the 1090 R and is more affordable than the RR version. In short, there's one letter less... An R that means we've removed a bunch of stuff to keep costs down.
For a start, we're taking it easy on the paint and varnish coats. Next, we've cut costs on rims. They're cast aluminum instead of forged, with the same design as those on the 920. No more LED indicators in the mirrors, radial brake calipers but no longer monobloc, and the clutch anti-dribble disappears. The suspension, meanwhile, has fewer adjustment options.
it's a fact that MV-Agusta has dispensed with some of the nobility of its biggest streetfighter. But the heart of the steak is as tasty as ever, and the sauce is as spicy as ever. The engine's red cylinder head cover is unmistakable: it's on fire in there. 144 barrels of MV-style power will calm you down and stretch your spine. Just to make sure you don't hit the road just yet, the 1090 R retains 8 levels of traction control.
Apart from the suspension settings, the chassis remains identical to the RR, with a trellis frame mounted on aluminum plates, a 50 mm Marzocchi inverted fork, a Sachs monoshock, and the superb, eternal swingarm.
To distinguish it from its sibling, the RR receives a major update and boasts 14 more horsepower than the R.
