Honda Koraidon: a motorcycle faithful to the legendary Pokémon

Honda hits hard with a surprising announcement: the Koraidon, a motorcycle inspired by the legendary Pokémon from Pokémon Scarlet, capable of switching from walking to driving thanks to cutting-edge technology. In partnership with The Pokémon Company, the Japanese manufacturer presents a concept that blends pop culture and technological innovation, confirming its taste for exploring new frontiers in mobility.

The Koraidon was designed by a team of 40 engineers recruited from Honda's various divisions. They worked under the slogan "Honda's Devotion: making children's dreams come true", a nod to the collective imagination surrounding Pokémon. Don't wait any longer to discover this concept.

Honda Koraidon: the Pokémon motorcycle that walks and rides

Visually, Honda has sought to remain as faithful as possible to Koraidon's appearance in the video game. The motorcycle boasts impressive dimensions, standing 2.5 meters high and weighing 303 kg. It features animated eyes, dynamic facial expressions and a moving head and neck, reinforcing the illusion of a genuine mechanical Pokémon.

No, Pokémon isn't old-fashioned - just look at the technologies used to bring the Honda Koraidon to life. It's based on an advanced self-balancing system, derived from research carried out for the famous ASIMO robot and the Honda Riding Assist project. Thanks to the Sprinting Build mode, the vehicle can switch between four-legged and rolling motorcycle positions. This feat relies on on-board intelligence to automatically stabilize the vehicle, a breakthrough that could revolutionize the world of two-wheelers.

Video games: when the power of imagination shapes tomorrow's world

Following on from the Toyota Miraidon presented in 2024, this collaboration between Honda and The Pokémon Company bears witness to a real craze for fusions between pop culture and the automotive industry.

While video game franchises such as Need for Speed, Call of Duty or, logically, MotoGP, faithfully reproduce existing motorcycles in their games, Honda takes a fictional creature and turns it into a functional concept. It's as if the boundary between the virtual and the real is gradually disappearing. This project marks an interesting evolution in the relationship between the video game industry and the world of two-wheelers.

These projects are driven by a common ambition: to show today's children that the power of imagination can have an impact on tomorrow's world.

An imminent presentation

Although the Japanese manufacturer has not yet announced any commercial launch, the idea of a vehicle capable of walking and driving is already fascinating fans and enthusiasts of new technologies.

The Honda Koraidon will be on display at the Honda Welcome Plaza Aoyama in Tokyo, from March 7 to 9, 2025. This world premiere will enable visitors to discover this amazing Pokémon motorcycle in detail. However, due to space and safety constraints, the model on display will remain static and cannot be tested in real-life conditions. It remains to be seen whether, in the future, this concept will find an extension in a functional model intended for the general public.
