presentation of the GSX-S 1000 GT 2023
The idea could have come from Kawasaki, a tuner, Erik Buell or Christopher Nolan. But no, this strikingly styled motorcycle is Suzuki's brainchild. The GSX-S 1000 GT could easily be Batman's road bike.
The Hamamatsu company needed to relaunch itself, to make a name for itself, to express a nervousness it had let slip away. Its big streetfighter has taken the gamble of an offbeat appearance; this "Sport Road" variation pushes the idea somewhere between a shock and a stealth fighter.
Taking over from the GSX-S 1000 F is no easy task. With its big scooter look, the machine had a bit of trouble seducing and positioning itself against the more assertive Ninja 1000 SX. the GT experience is much more evident on this model. The fairing imposes its strong presence, with a bow that seems to break rocks. Facing the air seems a mission, crushing kilometers its profession (of faith?), intimidating girlfriends an obligation.
One thing's for sure: the threat is omnipresent. The machine's face is reminiscent of a Muto from the Godzilla universe, with R1 eyes grafted on. Its body-built bat-like shoulders are impossible to smile at. It's clear that the designers took a lot of acid to define this identity - with a totally successful objective: a GSX-S stands out.
A little on the weight, as the GT is 12 kilos heavier. Admittedly, you'd have given a lot more.

The original 4-cylinder GSX-R was overhauled for the new-generation GSX-S, with modifications to camshafts, valve springs, injection housings, clutch and gear selection system. The airbox has also been changed to allow the engine to breathe more easily.
The driver will be in a new mood. The handlebars are 23 mm wider and 14 mm closer to the rider than on the previous Sport-GT. It should be more relaxed on board, but... That's not what's immediately obvious. The astonishment is under the gaze.
One area where Suzuki is catching up with the competition is in the instrumentation. The GSX-S 1000 GT is the first manufacturer to go full digital, with a 6.5-inch TFT color display. TheHayabusa is also equipped with this technology, but only with a small pad wedged between the needles. Connect a smartphone via USB cable or Bluetooth, and the mySPIN on-board system lets you control your contact list to make a phone call, manage your appointments calendar, select music and playlists, or use a GPS navigator.

The mySPIN is compatible with Android and iOs. Everything is controlled from the new switches on the left-hand commodo. Now that Suz has got into the swing of things, it's a safe bet that this 10.65 cm panel will soon be invading the larger models in the range.
Fortunately, it's not all fun and games. The rev counter normally occupies a good half of the screen. Practical information is discreetly displayed (trips, temperatures, clock, fuel gauge), while a graphic section provides information on the electronic assistants engaged: traction control level, engine mapping, shifter activation and gear engaged. Do you prefer a white or black background? Multiple menus allow you to set such preferences.
The GSX-S 1000 GT incorporates all the riding aids found on the roadster, such as SDMS with 3 riding modes (A / sport - B / dynamic - C / leisurely), Up&Down shifter, traction control and gearshift.Down shifter, 5-step traction control + off, Easy Start to start the engine at the touch of a button, and Low RPM Assist to facilitate low-speed changes.
Suz felt that adding a fairing wasn't enough. Hence the addition of cruise control (active between 30 and 180 km/h) and active braking in curves.
The GSX-S 1000 F didn't include even half of these electronics.

Where the spine differs is in the rear buckle, which is modified and reinforced to support the crew and suitcases (optional), and also lowered to accommodate a thicker passenger seat.
The 1000 GT justifies its name with a notion of comfort that the roadster does not contemplate. To begin with, the saddles are different and more welcoming. The passenger benefits from grab handles. Footpegs and handlebars are insulated with rubber. The windscreen (non-adjustable) and bodywork have spent a good deal of time in the wind tunnel to optimize the aerodynamic efficiency/protection ratio. Last but not least, the suspension is tuned for more on-road use than the 1000 GSX-S.
Of course, the manufacturer has included a whole range of accessories to make this GSX-S 1000 truly GT. On the menu: 36-liter panniers for a full-face helmet, high bubble, heated grips, comfort saddles, soft luggage, protectors of all kinds... and decorative accessories.
All of which adds up to a hefty price tag, originally set at over 15,000 euros. A price calibrated extremely close to the competition.
* For the period from July 1 to October 31, 2023, Suz' is offering the luggage kit for 1 euro more - a gift of 1,199 euros.

It's even scary to ride at night, when you can't see a thing. Especially on low beam. It's a little better on high beam. It's a real shame for such a well-equipped bike not to have lighting up to scratch. And as for the comfort saddle sold as an option, I think the Japanese don't have the same sense of the word "comfort" as Europeans. Rating : 5/5 Respond to Raf
The engine is unbelievably smooth, and after 7,000 rpm... it's a rocket, all the way up to 12,000 rpm. At the same time, it's also very easy to ride in cushy mode... Wanting to change my BMW R1200RS, I tried out the Super Duke GT... which I don't like at all. Hyper-powerful, incredible handling, but it just doesn't speak to me.
I've also tried the Ninja 1000 Sx, whose chassis is absolutely fabulous, but whose engine is too much like a 4-cylinder for me. And this Suz'. I think the suspension was badly adjusted on this second-hand model, so I think it could be even better. The brakes aren't up to the level of the other 2 in terms of bite either. But if I have to choose between the 3, I won't hesitate for a second! GSX S 1000 GT! Rating : 5/5 Respond to C'est bon !
Test: powerful, even violent acceleration if you get up to speed, but you can also wind it up. The weight is very low, and the grip is natural
I fell in love with it and bought it: I added a top case, even if it's awful!
With 2 people, the passenger is a bit far behind, but not too far
In short, it's all good! Rating : 5/5 Respond to ZzazzouzZ
