Sport touring

The idea could have come from Kawasaki, a tuner, Erik Buell or Christopher Nolan. But no, this strikingly styled motorcycle is Suzuki's brainchild. The GSX-S1000GT could easily be Batman's road bike.

The Hamamatsu-based company needed to relaunch itself, to make a name for itself, to express a nervousness it had let slip away. Its big streetfighter has taken the gamble of an offbeat appearance; this "Sport route" variation pushes the idea somewhere between a shock and a stealth fighter.

Taking over from the GSX-S1000F is no easy task. With its big scooter look, the machine had a bit of trouble seducing and positioning itself against the more assertive Ninja 1000 SX. the GT experience is much more evident on this model. The fairing imposes its strong presence, with a bow that seems to break rocks. Facing the air seems a mission, crushing kilometers its profession (of faith?), intimidating girlfriends an obligation.

One thing's for sure: the threat is omnipresent. The machine's face is reminiscent of a Muto from the Godzilla universe, with R1 eyes grafted on. Its body-built bat-like shoulders are impossible to smile at. It's clear that the designers took a lot of acid to define this identity - with a totally successful objective: a GSX-S stands out.
A little on the weight, as the GT is 12 kilos heavier. Admittedly, you'd have given a lot more.

Suzuki GSX-S 1000 GT as its powertrain is the same as that of the freshly updated roadster , the same improvements have been made, resulting in greater efficiency than the F. Two more horsepower at 11,000 rpm, better acceleration, but slightly less torque. From just over 11 mkg to just under. The curve is smoother, for a smoother ride.
The original 4-cylinder GSX-R was overhauled for the new-generation GSX-S, with modifications to camshafts, valve springs, injection housings, clutch and gear selection system. The airbox has also been changed to allow the engine to breathe more easily.

The driver will be in a new mood. The handlebars are 23 mm wider and 14 mm closer to the rider than on the previous Sport-GT. It should be more relaxed on board, but... That's not what's immediately obvious. The astonishment is under the gaze.
One area where Suzuki is catching up with the competition is in the instrumentation. The GSX-S1000GT is the first manufacturer to go full digital, with a 6.5-inch color TFT screen. TheHayabusa is also equipped with this technology, but only with a small pad wedged between the needles. Connect a smartphone via USB cable or Bluetooth, and the mySPIN on-board system lets you control your contact list to make a phone call, manage your appointments calendar, select music and playlists, or use a GPS navigator.

Suzuki GSX-S 1000 GT that's what's standard. This interface is designed to accept third-party applications. This will enable additional functionalities to be added at a later date. Weather, additional navigation functions, new interactions.... The beginning of the Suzuki Store?

The mySPIN is compatible with Android and iOs. Everything is controlled from the new switches on the left-hand commodo. Now that Suz has got into the swing of things, it's a safe bet that this 10.65 cm panel will soon be invading the larger models in the range.
Fortunately, it's not all fun and games. The rev counter normally occupies a good half of the screen. Practical information is discreetly displayed (trips, temperatures, clock, fuel gauge), while a graphic section provides information on the electronic assistants engaged: traction control level, engine mapping, shifter activation and gear engaged. Do you prefer a white or black background? Multiple menus allow you to set these preferences.

The GS X-S1000GT includes all the riding aids found on the roadster, such as SDMS with 3 riding modes (A / sport - B / dynamic - C / leisurely), Up&Down shifter, traction control and gearshift.Down shifter, 5-step traction control + off, Easy Start to start the engine at the touch of a button, and Low RPM Assist to facilitate low-speed changes.
Suz felt that adding a fairing wasn't enough. Hence the addition of cruise control (active between 30 and 180 km/h) and active braking in curves.
The GSX-S 1000 F didn't include even half of these electronics.

Suzuki GSX-S 1000 GT on the chassis side, the GT is (almost) unchanged. But why? A chassis like this could take 30 more grunts before it starts to buckle. The swingarm comes from an old GSX-R 1000, the frame is very similar to that of the hypersport, the KYB inverted fork is fully adjustable and the shock absorber can be set for rebound and preload. Touring or sport, it won't be a problem.
Where the spine differs is in the rear buckle, which is modified and reinforced to support the crew and suitcases (optional), and also lowered to accommodate a thicker passenger seat.

The 1000 GT justifies its name with a notion of comfort that the roadster does not contemplate. To begin with, the saddles are different and more welcoming. The passenger benefits from grab handles. Footpegs and handlebars are insulated with rubber. The windscreen (non-adjustable) and bodywork have spent a good deal of time in the wind tunnel to optimize the aerodynamic efficiency/protection ratio. Last but not least, the suspension is tuned for more on-road use than the 1000 GSX-S.

Of course, the manufacturer has included a whole range of accessories to make this GSX-S1000 truly GT. On the menu: 36-liter panniers for a full-face helmet, high bubble, heated grips, comfort saddles, soft luggage, protectors of all kinds... and decorative accessories.
All of which adds up to a hefty price tag, originally set at over 15,000 euros. A calibrated price extremely close to the competition.

Following a crash with my old Bandit 1200 S, I bought this bike new, full black, big GT pack. Honestly, it handles like a dream, you don't even feel its weight. It's lively and the riding modes allow me to ride almost all year round. I highly recommend it. The only two downsides for me are the missing center stand and the really poor MySpin system, compared with an Android car, for example. Disconnection/few compatible apps/manipulable navigation. Rating : 5/5
French Titou
Very versatile, pleasant and comfortable in everyday use. Just the on-board electronics are rather mediocre. The MySpin Suzuki really deserves a major update to bring it up to date. The suitcases are a bit limited in terms of hinges. In terms of performance, it's great, with availability at all engine speeds. The gearbox is fluid and the QS is very nice. Rating : 4/5
French nicoche Model 2022
Bought second hand a little while ago, a little step with my old v strom k5, but it's ok. Very beautiful, powerful and very endearing suz' yellow deco kit, akrap silencer, lacks more than a raised comfort seat for me, inexhaustible power in my opinion below 8000 rpm already... Rating : 5/5
French C'est bon ! Model 2022
I love this bike! I tried it when it first came out in 2022, and it really seduced me. But the gap between a VStrom 650 and the 152hp of the Suz was too big. I tried it again yesterday, second-hand. Mmmmh, it's magical! It's an easy, accessible bike (I can touch my feet to the ground for my 1.70m, I love the look of it, and the blue is magnificent. Unlike other 4-cylinders (1000Sx in particular), at legal speeds you don't feel the need to shift into 7th gear. The engine is unbelievably smooth, and after 7,000 rpm... it's a rocket, all the way up to 12,000 rpm. At the same time, it's also very easy to ride in cushy mode... Wanting to change my BMW R1200RS, I tried out the Super Duke GT... which I don't like at all. Hyper-powerful, incredible handling, but it just doesn't speak to me. I've also tried the Ninja 1000 Sx, whose chassis is absolutely fabulous, but whose engine is too much like a 4-cylinder for me. And this Suz'. I think the suspension was badly adjusted on this second-hand model, so I think it could be even better. The brakes aren't up to the level of the other 2 in terms of bite either. But if I have to choose between the 3, I won't hesitate for a second! GSX S 1000 GT! Rating : 5/5
French Nanard 310 Model 2024
I bought it new 11 months ago, and have ridden 6,000 km so far. I'd have loved to have ridden more, but the weather wasn't cooperating.... Too bad. It's true that a center stand would have been welcome. But apart from that, it's really a perfect bike, with a smooth and powerful engine, perfect comfort, with the comfort seat offered by Suzuki, and I'm not even talking about its looks, I find it super beautiful. Every time I go out, it's nothing but happiness. If you're looking for a smooth, powerful and comfortable bike, frankly it's perfect. Rating : 5/5
French Alfonce Model 2024
So, just one more color? The GT is an excellent motorcycle, with a few modifications for duo comfort, but Suzuki myspin is a real disappointment. Very few compatible applications and numerous disconnections with the phone. Rating : 4/5
French Rene Model 2022
The arrival of this bike reminded me of the aprilia rst 1000 futura 20 years ago, just after the year 2000. The same futuristic appeal, the perfect extra-terrestrial machine that makes you unique. And judging by the description, absent power plant aside, the proposition is beautiful, to say the least, with Suzuki reliability and know-how included. It makes me want to try it next time. I ride a vfr750 rc36/1. Rating : 4/5
French ZzazzouzZ Model 2022
I go into Suz to buy some spinnaker seals, see this bike, get on it, surprise! My feet touch the ground (I'm 1.65 m tall) and the seat is very low (I just got off a Honda CB1000R)
Test: powerful, even violent acceleration if you get up to speed, but you can also wind it up. The weight is very low, and the grip is natural
I fell in love with it and bought it: I added a top case, even if it's awful!
With 2 people, the passenger is a bit far behind, but not too far
In short, it's all good!

I did about fifty kms with it I find it great this model pleases me enormously. I'm going to discuss the price with the dealer and see if I can get a good discount. Rating : 5/5
I tried out this bike this morning, having ridden an MT10 ten minutes beforehand. This bike is really well done, with a smooth yet incisive engine and a natural riding position (not too far forward, nor arms outstretched). Loaded with safety and modular options. Ras screen, very clear and functional. In short, try it, a pleasant surprise awaits you, really. Cdt Rating : 4/5
French luluc Model 2022
MAGNIFICENT.finally a motorcycle, to travel with two, and without having a truck license!!, I would not expect it anymore, nice body, limited weight, says Mr. suzuki, you add a center seat, possibly a top-case, even to remove a little electronics, and I buy it.merry christmas to all V Rating : 4/5
French Ugholin Model 2022
A fine achievement that seems worth 4 stars, from what I understand from the summary report. I'm keeping the fifth because of the tires, which don't have an excellent reputation, the non-adjustable bubble and the non-existent topcase, which could have been part of the overall package. But all in all, it looks great and I can't wait to try it out and compare it with the Ninja 1000 SX. Rating : 4/5
