presentation of the 1050 SPEED TRIPLE 2011

there are simple things that can be so overwhelming. That look, those crazy eyes, that intimidating expression, it's the soul of the Speed Triple. To underscore its importance, this Triumph has only changed it twice in its life. One was in 1997, when the dual optics were introduced and the Speed discovered its true identity. The other time was... for 2011.

a tricky styling exercise: the headlights are no longer round, but they still exude the Triple identity. The Speed's eyes are merely a nod to its profound evolution. While its engine has taken a dose of strong coffee, its chassis has swallowed the espresso machine whole. The fact is, the competition hasn't let this streetfighter pioneer go it alone. Italy and Japan now offer machines that don't shy away from head-butting.

for some time, rumors of a larger displacement were circulating in cyberspace. Nothing of the sort: the 3-cylinder still measures 1050 cm3. With the help of a few mechanical engineers, the boiler found a few extra horsepower in its bowels. A few more revs for a series of impatient watts to spit out 135 hp from the English mill. Torque rises by 8% to 11 mkg. And with the scales 8 kilos lighter, the Speed's power-to-weight ratio should further enhance its capabilities.

hinckley's main focus has been on the chassis. The 2011 Speed Triple introduces a new frame and redesigned geometry, with a focus on mass concentration. New wheels, thinner brake discs, a new 43 mm upside-down fork that's still fully adjustable, and an apparently new monobracket all contribute to the roadster's weight reduction.

as if to show that his change is not a spur-of-the-moment one, the British bad boy takes the opportunity to change his suit. In addition to his wide eyes, the changes include radiator scoops, fuel tank, rear frame, mufflers and wheel design. He's also thinking about safety, as ABS can be added as an option. And the gentleman almost thinks he's bourgeois, with his new dashboard, to which a tire pressure monitor can be added. As for the coded-key anti-theft device, it's no luxury.
Of course, the overall lines make it stand out from the crowd, with its compact appearance, thuggish looks and desire to slap you in the face. And yet, this Speed Triple seems less rebellious than before...

French Model 2011
one of the best motorcycles I've ever owned: powerful, torquey engine, top-notch braking (brembo and original avia hoses), impeccable roadholding, 2011 model bought second-hand at 19,000 km, has 39,000 km on the clock, with no worries... any faults? of course, like the ridiculous turning radius, the seat height (rider under 1.70m even with the "low" seat, it's just right), but once you're on the road, what a pleasure!!! it can do everything from a quiet ride to a big attack without really being able to fault it!!! you get the idea that I love this bike??right? it's my second triple in ten years and by far the best bike I've ever owned, a face first, easy on all roads, a fantastic engine no need for 200 hp on twisty roads the hypersports stay behind, torque, brilliant braking for me the must and class. Rating : 5/5

My best bike in 25 years
a beautiful object that you love even without starting it.
Super comfortable with the gel seat and good visibility with the handlebar mirrors.
The finish is superb (the Japanese and Ducati can take a leaf out of their book).
Bravo triumph

I own a 2011 Speed Triple.

It's a very good bike.
The engine is very pleasant, with plenty of torque and length. Its typical "3-cylinder" sound also adds a lot of charm to this bike.
The suspension is well tuned, a very good mix of comfort and performance.
Build quality and fit are also of a high standard.

To sum up, this is a well-rounded, homogeneous bike. Admittedly, it's not the most powerful, not the sportiest, not the most comfortable... But it's a good bike in every respect. And that, in the end, is the hardest thing to do.

Super moto ! (modèle 2011 ABS)
French Model 2011
A beautiful machine (Subjective ?), well finished and well equipped on the suspension and braking fronts. The latter is equipped with Brembo calipers and master cylinders. All connected by Avia hoses. In a word: it brakes!
It's a sporty roadster: the chassis is very rigid, but it holds the road. That's the price you have to pay... Otherwise, it's very maneuverable and handles well. It's even willing to enter curves on the brakes, without forcing the bike into a corner. Finally, the ABS is generally forgettable, but a real safety feature.
As for the engine, for me it's ideal: supple and generous, with a good range of use from low revs.
I'm won over :-)

French speedtriple2013 Model 2012
Hi, I have a Speed Triple dated 15:11:2007 with carbon pot in low position, KN filter, injection curve installed by my computer with ODB plug, dyno test 135.2 hp and 11 m/kg at 3000 rpm. The bike has lost 10 kg with the removal of the 2 original pots, the huge passenger footrests (replaced by 2005 gsxr lower and further forward) and the unsightly rear mud flap replaced by an aluminum wheel arch. Too bad I can't put up a photo. I'm going to sell it and buy the 2013, but I don't think I'll gain much in terms of performance, because on the open road, a normal rider is a long way from the bike's capabilities Rating : 5/5
