presentation of the 900 THUNDERBIRD 2002

the 900 T-Bird, which briefly disappeared from the British catalog (in 1999 to be precise), is back on the road with a new 6-speed gearbox (the same used on the Thunderbird S). Triumph's roadster range boasts a fine offering. The Thunderbird 900, with its deliciously retro charm, is a credit to its family, which includes no less than 4 other machines in the segment. There's an S version of the Thunderbird, the Legend TT, theAdventurer, and in a sportier, more characterful vein, the Speed Triple. With its low seat height, well-presented engine, beautiful chrome and sausage-style exhausts, this bike is a real dog, transporting us back to the heyday of British motorcycles. But today, mechanical worries have vanished. The 3-cylinder engine has been tuned to deliver just the right amount of low-end torque. Power may seem fair for a 900, but that's not how the T-bird is judged. Its charm is distilled without the need for hustle. Sitting cool, riding cool to enjoy the English touch. Comfort is a little disappointing, thanks to the rear shock absorber. It has too little travel. The turning radius could be improved for city escapades. The chassis copes very well with the engine's capabilities. The machine brakes smoothly and handles the road with sufficient confidence.

i've been driving a 1995 model for 6 years, and it's been a real pleasure...the brakes are a bit tight when you're wandering around, but otherwise the engine is as torquey as you could wish for... Rating : 4/5

With just a few extras: 17" rear wheel, bitubo shock absorber, hardened fork, Frank's dual-system pots, small handlebars and, for the styling, a Lucas light on a shortened mudguard, you've got a real British roadster with more peach than a New Bonnie lung! Happy trails and long live triple carburettors. Rating : 4/5
i bought my adventurer 4 years ago. it started at 24000 km a (boo)! result change of the cylinder head I recover it the 20 04 if all is well has by that it is an attaching motor bike of quality the battery does not hold it wanders with the top of 120 in the curves nothing of malicious Rating : 3/5

I just tightened my 1997 Tbird at 53000Kms after changing the distri chain! The chain guide broke and then clogged the oil pump (no strainer ...) on the highway!!!! I reassembled a 1995 55000kms used engine: I just cast 1 connecting rod! I'm disgusted!!! I'm a fan of Triumphs, BSAs, Nortons and other English cars, so I'm looking for 1 other reliable engine! Rating : 2/5

I've owned a tbird 95 (50,000 km) for 9 years, and I've traveled with it (sensitive butts please). I love it: nice engine, especially if you let the pots out a bit, great mouth, good handling with good tires. A real tractor. There's always someone to stop in front of it..
On the other hand, overhauls (essential for reliability: pellets) are expensive, and repairs hurt on a model that's already 15 years old.

Agree with Clot about the lack of kick. Impossible to start with a stroller. As far as I know, tubeless is incompatible with spokes, but I did learn something about the spinning effect induced by the presence of a single front disc. While they're at it, they could have fitted the excellent double cam of the 1969 Bonnie T120R. Rating : 5/5
for me it's my ideal bike it's very easy to ride because i loaded the handlebars (wider) and i lowered it and i have "mecatwin" pots an extra sound and i changed the rear..bike which has caratere Rating : 5/5
French Clot Model 1995
Nice bike, too bad it's so poorly equipped. No center stand, no passenger roll bar, no lockable fuel cap. A single disc at the front, no fork stiffener (the fork tends to twist with a single disc), no starter pedal (very practical for winter riding), they could have taken the opportunity to fit one, given that it's old-fashioned. And why not a toothed belt instead of a chain (more practical, more efficient, less maintenance, etc.) No storage space under the saddle and no possibility of fitting tubeless tires either. A real shame Rating : 5/5
