presentation of the XJ6 600 Naked 2010

The new Diversion can now count on its stripped double to satisfy the new biker clientele. Since the demise of the XJN/XJS duo in 2002, the Yamaha range has sorely lacked an entry-level model. The 78hp FZ6s tried to fill the gap, but they were still in the top category. A short break of 7 years and the XJ 600 is back, and today it's called the XJ6.

the philosophy of the medium-displacement XJs remains as some of us knew it while we were looking for the magic pink paper: to offer a motorcycle that's easily accessible, reasonably priced, good for everything, with the right amount of power. The 2009 XJ6 respects these codes. But there's no question of looking sad, because the competition has plenty of pep. Yam has therefore insisted a little on the design of the bodywork, with an FZ1 headlamp topped by a ruby-shaped pilot light, sharpened radiator scoops, a small engine cowling and a few plastic parts to reinforce the look. With its slim rear end and muffler removed (it's tucked under the engine), the XJ6 is a real eye-catcher. Its profile stands in stark contrast to its bigger rivals: it looks incisive and muscular, while a Honda CBF is wise and reassuring, while the Kawa ER-6n is fun, playful and svelte. The Bandit, on the other hand, seems more impulsive.

Yamaha XJ6 600 Naked 2010on the technical side, there's no need to bother with a Superbike chassis, which would be useless (and expensive) for its clientele. The XJ6 features a diamond-shaped frame with steel tubes. New, simple and functional, it houses a new engine, also based on the 4-cylinder architecture of the FZ6, itself derived from the 2003 R6. Cylinder head, crankcase, camshafts, intake/exhaust systems, clutch and gear selection have all been revised to suit the XJ6. It has been extensively redesigned to offer flexibility and availability, and is ideally suited to a wide range of uses. As a result, this sedan is in the same league as machines in the same segment. The powertrain comparison with the other Japanese models will be close - The evolution is much more marked, however, if we refer to the data of the previous XJ: it was equipped with an air-cooled 4-cylinder engine with 2 valves per cylinder and 61 hp. Its descendant is equipped with a liquid-cooled engine, twice as many valves, and 78 hp at 10,000 rpm.

with the wave of street-fighters arriving in recent years, it's strange to find a bike with wise values, much more suited to our "safe" environment. The chassis data tell us that this is a pleasant bike, not particularly playful, but not tricky either. A 1,440 mm wheelbase, a 26° rake, conventional 41 mm forks, double-piston calipers and optional ABS - nothing sporty, but fun and functional in an attractive package.
Yamaha XJ6 600 Naked 2010Standardization obliges, and the XJ6 uses the same dashboard as the FZ series. By opting for classic elements such as a simple swingarm, a rear light with bulbs, a braking system that's more than sufficient without being an R1 front end, a steel frame and a well-proven engine, this new Yamaha should be able to afford a very reasonable price. Like the late XJ6, but more modern.
And for those looking for a bit of protection or a bit of touring, don't forget that the XJ6 doubles up as the Diversion version, equipped with a good-sized fork head.

Excellent bike for the A2 license
Similar performance to an MT07 (tied at 200m D.A. on several starts)
(machines both bridled at 47.5)
Correct braking for the bike (not excellent, but more than sufficient)
The chassis is correct, healthy and easy for everyone
Suspension is somewhere between sporty and comfortable, like a perfect medium
Fuel consumption averages between 5 and 6 liters per 100 km, depending on riding style
Lighting is adequate, but led lighting is even better
It's an economical bike, perfect for a daily rider in view of its reliability.

Xj6, 2009, 20 years of licence, 15000km with, commuting to work, a few trips, 280km max with the reserve, really a great bike even if I've had more powerful bikes.
The engine is full and the 78hp are well exploited, it pushes quite a bit and meows well...
Easy to ride and get on the angle.
A great bike for beginners or those just getting back into the swing of things, or for those who want to keep going...

Température élevée sur une Yamaha XJ6
French Eric Barboza Model 2014
Hello
i have a 2014 Yamaha XJ6. I notice that the temperature keeps rising up to 110 degrees. 2 minutes after starting it goes up to 45-55. I changed the oil, the coolant check the hoses and even the radiator: everything is ok but the temperature keeps rising. What can I do?

30.000 kms behind the wheel of the XJ6 allow me to assess its performance. Aside from its ease of handling (it's very forgiving of beginner's mistakes), its main asset is its engine; smooth and docile at (very) low revs, it becomes deliciously furious at the top of the rev counter (its R6 DNA?). Whether you're in the mood for a pep talk or for a romp, this 600 is a delight. Chassis-wise, it's no hypersport, that's for sure (frame and suspension are basic), but you have to push it to the limit to catch it at fault (and then it lets you know that's enough…). The front end is a little heavy (and so is the bike), making it a little hard to register, but it's precise, and once you're on the corner, the XJ6 is a real rail, and the handling remains sound in all circumstances. Braking is sufficient for everyday use, but a little too light for attack, especially as the fork is not adjustable and plunges easily. Comfort-wise, there's better and worse to come, with a tendency to hop from the rear over bumps, but the riding position is excellent. Of course, you'll have to forget about the duo (handles and saddle are not really conducive to it), but that's not its primary vocation. For a basic model, the build quality and finish are exemplary, hard to beat at this price. No breakdowns in 30,000 kms, apart from a false contact in the barrel, which is also more than good. Its main quality: versatility - city, touring, arsouille (moderate though it may be), it can do it all very well. Its main drawback: a hard, imprecise gearshift (it's hard to find neutral, and in the long run, it's really annoying). And then, its pretty mini FZ1 look often turns heads, which is always nice. I only intend to part with it for a larger-displacement bike, but otherwise, this little 600 is a joy to ride. Rating : 4/5

French goaldefeublack Model 2015
so what can we say about this bike for future owners?

positive point :

-easy to handle
-aesthetically pleasing (for me)
-inexpensive
-ideal for young riders
-from 4000/5000 revs the bike happily wakes up for maximum cornering pleasure
-fairly robust engine
- the basic seat can easily withstand more than 700 km at a time for riders who are used to motorcycling
-20 e is enough to fill the tank

negative point :

-engine heats up easily in town (min: 95)
-from 90 upwards, it's a real head-turner

With good maintenance, the bike is perfect for outings of around 500 km between friends, and is not afraid of altitude or water.
The basic noise is good enough for me, but I don't hesitate to shift up a gear for a deeper sound. The exhaust pipes are pretty ugly on the other competitors.

You're free to indulge yourself with rhizome or other accessories to change the look if you're tired of it (;

bonne route

happy owner of a xj6 year 2009 that I bought from my auto school, almost 2 years with this bike and I still can't get enough of it. ideal for a young biker with just the right amount of power the xj6 is a safe and reliable bike, almost 20,000 km on this bike, apart from punctures on the rear tire I have had no mechanical problems with it. the pluses of this bike are
reliable mechanics
agility
flexibility
pretty good duo (lots of duo riding)
cheap, easy-to-find spare or used parts
reasonable fuel consumption
and for the minuses
lack of fun and personality

Excellent smoothness at low revs, velocity in the mid-range, and at high revs it becomes downright furious, even forgetting about the red zone.
Roadholding is impeccable with dunlop smartroad II tires.
The duo is "magical" in terms of comfort and motricity at all times, even on hills, all in a cloud of smoothness - in short, this bike is FANTASTIC ;)

I've been riding my xj6 for just over a year now, and I'm still enjoying it! As well as being pretty, it's pretty economical and has everything you'd expect from a motorcycle: comfort, ease of use, responsiveness, braking... The only downside, but I think it's to be expected, is that it's really not made for long trips (300km and more)! In the end, I was able to try out quite a few other bikes, bigger, more nervous, more powerful, more more more...in the end, the xj6 has nothing to be ashamed of compared to its bigger sisters, and every time I get back on board, it's with real pleasure and no complexes! Great bike to start with, I've been on it for 4 months now and never tire of it ...
It's still very maneuverable, a little low for my size (1m83), but all in all pleasant and responsive to the slightest request.
In my opinion, it's better than the kawa er6 that I was able to test during my driving lessons for my driving license.

I took my driving test on it, and it's a really good little bike, very smooth. It never stalls, even at very low revs.

The gearbox is a bit hard at times, but these are the bikes of the auto school, they see it all.

Compared to the ER6 N, it's much better finished and less impulsive.

Well customized, it looks great. The price isn't too high, especially with ABS and a new pot, which is close to 7,000 euros. For the same sum, you can have a CBR 600 F, a competitor to the two above-mentioned models. But it's superbly finished (and it's not a sports bike, just a hornet with a revised fairing).

i'm planning to buy this XJ6 600 naked, but the latest model.where i'm worried is that i've read that the gearbox isn't great, especially for the suspension on bad roads, and the question is how do you go away with two tents 2 comforters clothes,in short can you equip it to travel.that doesn't stop me from wanting to buy it Rating : 4/5

It's true that it's endearing, but the engine is a little too linear, and lacks breath; you won't tear your arms off under acceleration, and it feels like it's 20 hp short of an FZ6. Nonetheless, the cartography gives it a good operating range, making it very pleasant to ride around town, especially as it's a bike with a very appealing look
The "coutoisie" model I tried out had a comfort saddle, which was very nice

Hi everyone
I've just bought the XJ6 and it's simply incredible
A perfect bike for beginners and for daily commuting. Super comfortable and at ease everywhere, it won't let you down. A mini budget for a superbly equipped bike (cool looks, sabot, comfortable saddle and buell-style exhaust). As for the engine, it's very smooth, but don't get me wrong, it's still quite playful and capable of great bursts of speed. Two minor shortcomings, however: the rear brake is almost non-existent, and it feels like it's missing a gear. So I'd recommend it to anyone who wants a fun, plyvalant bike at a low price
Salutations et bonne route
