presentation of the 998 MONSTER S4Rs 2006
the history of the Monster is intimately linked to the evolution of Ducati sports bikes. After all, it's the latter's distillers that power the Italian roadsters. Right from the start, the SS models offered their twins to the Naked sisters. And then, from the original 900 desmo, we moved on to the desmoquattro of the 916 for the S4 and began to wonder. Then the 996 cm 3 was inserted into the S4 R, and that's when the big watts started coming in. Today, it's getting downright furious, as the latest Monster, the 2006 evolution, simply offers up the 999's 998 cm3 Testastretta. It's no longer watts, but a very big trunk that you're going to have to control at the throttle.
testastretta is the name of the latest-generation cylinder head of Bologna's twin Superbike. In its configuration for the S4Rs, this engine produces 130 hp. The tubular trellis frame, painted bright red (in all colors except black), is Byzantium. Öhlins 43 mm upside-down forks - with TiN tube treatment - adjustable from all sides, rear shock absorber of the same construction, Brembo all-radial braking system, aluminum monobars, various carbon parts, superb Type 999 rims, 177 kg dry weight and Pilot Power on the shoes. Start saving and crying about this roadster with SBK soul. The Monster's heyday has become Tantalus' torment.

i'll keep you posted to see what she's up to; in the meantime, we'll have to make do with the pictures, as we haven't seen one on the road yet

However, I'd like to point out that there are an incredible number of Monsters and we don't know which way to turn... Are we starting to lose the fluidity and magical soul of the mostro (oops... Monster pardon...)? The choice of engines is becoming Kafkaesque, and only the purse will do..
In any case, like Voxan or Triumph, Duacati has understood that the future of the roadster and the European motorcycle lies not in the tidy battle over preconceived models, where Japanese manufacturers are (and excel...), but in the exceptional motorcycle, full of little inconveniences and special uses, but which gives a unique soul to their models..
... OK, I'm not super objective because I ride an S4R..
Agree 100% with soulka though... Rating : 5/5 Respond to U
