presentation of the XVS 1100 DRAGSTAR Classic 2002
after 10 years of the 1100 chopper, the Virago hands over the baton to the Dragstar, a low-rider custom. Based on the outline of the 650, it completes a range that Yamaha can be proud of. The manufacturer boasts almost 6 custom models, including the Wildstar, Royalstar and Starventure, to name but a few. The standard version (18" front rim, more aggressive mudguards, narrower fork) remains in the catalog for just two years, while the Classic will cruise for over half a decade. No surprises in terms of silhouette, but more in terms of dynamics. The twin is taken from the 1100 Virago, with extensive work on the mechanics, including new cylinders, connecting rods and pistons. The two-cylinder engine is pleasantly responsive when called upon. It's the chassis that really moves us. The suspension does a remarkable job, ensuring comfort and gratifying the Dragstar with excellent roadholding. And with braking of the same calibre, you can enjoy a more muscular ride from time to time - especially as the bike allows. A custom that likes to play, we love it. And the price is more than tempting. Unfortunately, not everything is rosy. In first gear, the gearbox isn't a model of silence; as for the passenger, he'll soon be getting a mouthful.

I'm still hesitating between a shadow 1100 and the dragstar 1100
My big problem is that I don't know which has more torque and acceleration.
I'm looking for brutality between the two on start-up
Which one should I choose?
Who can answer me please?
Best regards

On the other hand, it's fitted with Harley Davidson mufflers and the Belgian police have recently been hunting down noisy motorcycles, with fines and even threats of seizure... So I'm thinking of going back to quieter pots. Can anyone give me some advice? Rating : 5/5 Participate in the conversation
caught fire and burned to the ground in 30 minutes in 30 minutes my leisure and pleasure of motorcycling went up in smoke and of course I hadn't insured it for the incident (a motorcycle doesn't burn)
so, in my opinion, I've got it all wrong

for an 1100, the engine power would have been good for a few more horses Rating : 5/5 Participate in the conversation
i've just bought an 1100 and I'm very happy with it, but I'd like to improve its "noise". I saw that MayTay has a simple method for removing baffles from the pot.
is it possible to get more information on this method?
Merci d\'avance.

Can anyone tell me about the gearbox? I have a cracking noise on 3rd gear, and from what I understand, it's not an isolated case. At first I thought it was the cardan shaft. But that's not the case... The Yamaha dealer tells me it's going to cost me a lot of money (15 to 20 hours of MO, not counting parts, etc.), so much so that he's wondering whether I should change the whole engine. Which would be cheaper
In short: who can give me information on this subject? Rating : 2/5 Respond to jml
