Motorcycle specifications Yamaha1000 YZF-R1 GYTR 2019 When the stopwatch burns your eyes

Sport

Yamaha will be offering a very special version of its R1. A tool, a weapon, a pure dispenser of high-voltage pleasure for the track. For the track only! With this R1 GYTR, a trend is confirmed: that of bikes prepared directly by a manufacturer and ready to crack the track. Factory Works Aprilias, the BMW HP4 Race, the GSX-R Ryuyo, and formerly the MV-Agusta F4 1000 Veltro Pista have already illustrated this highly specialized craze; Another approach to the competitive-customer.

already in 2018, Yamaha had prepared an R1 specifically to promote the new GYTR department, a fusion of the YEC and the previous GYTR. A demonstration machine on the level of a Superbike wheel.
This time, the temptation is too strong for this super R1 to escape the workshop and set out to conquer the track. It has formed a small clan, no more than 20 enthusiasts, who have snapped up a good selection of racing parts, but haven't had time for a major engine prep. This leaves future purchasers free to gorge themselves on the mill if the performance level isn't violent enough.

time trials be damned! The beauty proclaims this loud and clear with its all-carbon bodywork covered by a more than symbolic deco. Nothing less than that of the official team that won the 2018 Suzuka 8 Hours... The decal itself is modelled on the very first YZF-R1. Two decades ago, this radical thoroughbred slapped the sportbike world in the face, heralding the future domination of the 1000cc segment.

In terms of equipment, the main on-board accessories include a race wiring harnesselectronic control unit (ECU), a communications control unit (CCU) and a quick-draw throttle. Suspension comes from Öhlins, with an FGRT 219 fork, TTX36 GP rear shock absorber and steering damper, all fully adjustable. The vigor of the 4-cylinder crossplane will give a little more than the standard 200 hp with an Akrapovic Evolution 2 titanium exhaust - more sound, a liberated breath and a definite weight saving. Gilles Tooling crankcase and axle protectors further enhance the bike's protection. Power is expected to climb to around 210 hp, with weight stabilizing at around 190 kilos fully loaded.
Half handlebars dotted with racing buttons instantly put you in the Superbike mood. The fork crown, hollowed out to the max, bears the hallmark of its exclusivity, with its limited edition number engraved in the flesh... er, metal. No need for switches or similar trinkets. Its world is another, surrounded by heated blankets, leather suits and taut trajectories.

20 years for the R1, 20 examples for the GYTR, one for each year of sport-racing expression.
As with the R1Ms, reservations were made online before confirming the order with a dealer. This was possible... for a short while. You had to be motivated and quick, because they were all reserved within a few hours. Those who were quick enough will be able to write a big check to finalize their purchase of this ideology. They will automatically receive entry to the 2019 Yamaha Racing Experience (YRE), where specialists await to show them how to get the most out of this exceptional machine. Modern sports bikes went radical at the dawn of the 2000s. Today, that's no longer enough for them, so they've turned to exclusivity.
