Motorcycle specifications SuzukiGSX-R 1000 R RYUYO 2019 A challenge for pilots

Now we're getting down to business! Up until now, we've had a lot of fun with a GSX-R 1000 that pushed you to the point of dislocating your forearms - with this Ryuyo version, we're getting down to business. Big watts with a vitamin-enriched engine, a sharpened chassis, a lightened and prepared wheel, a name that says it all and seconds ready to be crunched: here's a GSX-R 1000 R calibrated for pistards.
hypersports know how to develop the cult of performance. Recently, production models have gone a step further, offering more efficient models. Not special series to meet WSBK requirements, but even more motivated wheels for the racetrack. Sometimes to the extreme, like the BMW HP4 Race; sometimes to satisfy the desires of riders of a certain caliber, like the Factory Works from Aprilia, or the GYTR from Yamaha. For Suzuki, the proposal takes shape under a black dress with bluish aromas, emblazoned with this enormous RYUYO. Kezako? A Japanese town in the heart of Iwata, where Suzuki has set up a complex and a track for testing its new models. A 6.5 km track with a long 2.3 km straight (even longer than the Mistral at Paul Ricard). Plenty of scope for top speeds.
And how is this achieved? By opting for complete electronic management and Yoshimura parts. The kit harness, EM-PRO control unit and a complete titanium R-11sq Racing line enable the mill to spit out 212 hp at 12,900 rpm and 12.75 mkg of torque at 10,300 rpm. Internal software allows two fully customizable maps to be created. No change on the intake side except for a K&N filter. And the best is yet to come.
carbon! Oh yes, lots of it. The fairing is made entirely of this material, as are the mudguards, frame protectors, airbox cover, seat support and heel guards. A dose of varnish and little paint allow the eyes to fully appreciate the tough, black fiber.
Underneath, the large aluminum perimeter frame welcomes new teammates, and exalts others. The front axle, for example. It's fitted with Öhlins, but strangely enough, Suzuki hasn't opted for a complete fork. The Showa BPF with additional tubes is retained, albeit assisted by Öhlins NIX 30 cartridges for enhanced efficiency. The Swedish manufacturer also supplies the steering damper and a TTX GP rear shock absorber. It's all great stuff, and you won't even have to touch it for your first few laps. The lucky purchasers will have their machines tuned according to their size, desires and riding ability.
When it comes to tires, the Ryuyo has reserved some of the best and most innovative slick tires. Dunlop is in charge of grip, with a KR 108 205 / 60 - 17 for the rear. And the brand-new KR 109 in 125/80 - 17 for the front. More than new, given that it's not yet commercially available - this rubber is in the vein of tires under development, only fitted to major championship teams. This Suz will be the first to use it in (very small) series.
renewed confidence in Brembo monobloc radial calipers. The control system, on the other hand, had to be better adapted to the requirements of heavy and/or fine brakers. A Brembo RCS Corsa Corta master cylinder now sits alongside the right hand. It offers 3 types of braking to maximize sensations.
- Normal, for greater flexibility
- Sport, for reduced no-load travel and more dynamic braking with more bite
- Race, with minimal freewheel travel and instant response.
New SBK-type Z04 pads and heat sinks enhance braking gniak.
The saddle has been replaced by a more suitable neoprene element, the fork crown is made of machined aluminium the fork crown is cut from aluminum, the chain kit is a DID 520 ERW3 racing model, and there's a set of buttons on the left-hand commodo to control the mappings, pit-limiter and other essential riding functions.
for dessert, caviar: reduced weight. The Yosh line doesn't just add watts. It saves 5.9 kilos. Combined with special parts, the abandonment of superfluous parts, light cladding and general preparation, the Gex 1000 Ryuyo comes in at 168 kilos.
It's clear that Suzuki has produced a very rare, very racing GSX-R. Only 20 units will be produced, and they can only be reserved on the Internet, and only for Italy via the dedicated mini-site... from November 10. Let's hope that Suzuki Italy's initiative will inspire other importers, and even the parent company. The asking price is in line with special series such as the Ducati R or Honda CBR SP2. A choice piece for track-hungry Suzuki fans, who can go straight from the dealer to the track.
Suzuki France has managed to repatriate a few examples for the pure pistards of the hexagon. Travel costs are the main drawback, rising from 29,990 euros (Italy) to 33,000 euros (France). The price includes a driving course on a circuit, but don't expect to pay for the registration document and warranty.
