presentation of the SR 2016
The Zero SR has the same DNA as the Zero S, but is designed for riders who simply want to go faster and accelerate even more. equipped with a 660-amp motor controller, the Zero SR delivers 25% more power (50 kW) and 56% more torque (144 Nm). To cope with this surge in power, its motor uses high-temperature magnets that ensure better performance under more demanding driving conditions and for extended periods at higher speeds.
with more torque than most 1000cc sports bikes, the Zero SR pulls hard...and keeps on pulling. Accelerating from 0-100 km/h in 3.3 seconds on the road to a top speed of over 160 km/h, the Zero SR offers spirited riders. From local track times to the podium at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, the Zero SR is fundamentally changing the way electric motorcycles are perceived.
each Zero S ZF13.0 and Zero SR model is equipped with an innovative new Z-Force® motor. Redesigned from the ground up, the internal permanent magnet (IPM) configuration produces power more efficiently, cools faster and has better thermal capabilities. As a result, it significantly improves performance on more demanding routes, and enables higher extended speeds to be reached.
to expand riding possibilities and enable access to the ever-expanding public charging infrastructure, Zero Motorcycles has effectively tripled charging speed with the new Charge Tank accessory. Compatible with the popular J1772 standard plug, the Charge Tank is designed to operate on Level 2 charging stations. ZF9.8 power packs can now be recharged to 95% in around 2 hours, while recharging the new, higher-capacity ZF13.0 power pack takes around three hours.
the new cell chemistry of the Z-Force® power pack stores more energy and operates more efficiently, creating a system with the highest energy efficiency.the highest energy density in the electric vehicle industry. The power pack requires no routine maintenance and is covered by a 5-year / 160,000 km warranty.
while Zero Motorcycles continues to set the bar high for its top-performing models, proven technology makes electric motorcycles even more accessible. With its impressive power-to-weight ratio, the 2016 Zero S ZF9.8 offers the thrill and comfort of an electric motorcycle at a new, affordable price.
range of over 250 km and a service life of over 550,000 km
the Zero S and Zero SR feature advanced chemical cell and battery management systems for greater capacity and range. The ZF13.0 power pack gives you up to 317 km and is designed to last as long as your bike. The result of cutting-edge research and development: each cell in the power pack is individually controlled and monitored to ensure optimum performance.
revolutionary Z-Force® motor - up to 67 hp, 144 Nm... and incredibly efficient
zero Motorcycles designed the Z-Force® motor from the ground up to be compact, efficient and powerful. It delivers exhilarating acceleration to a top speed of 164 km/h on the Zero SR. Fully air-cooled, the engine provides a fantastic driving experience with no regular maintenance required. When you slow down, the motor generates electricity which is fed back into the power pack to extend driving time.
chassis and body
aircraft-grade aluminum is used exclusively in the construction of the double-spar chassis. It's light, strong and one of the main reasons why these bikes handle so incredibly well. Designed to have a low center of gravity, the bikes are highly maneuverable and responsive. The refined appearance is rounded off by elegant bodywork with a modern, dynamic, stripped-down look. The body's fuel tank area features an integrated, lockable and removable storage compartment. The tank can also be replaced by the Power Tank accessory for longer range, or by the Charge Tank for faster recharging.
showa suspension
zero Motorcycles worked closely with Showa to develop the suspension systems. These effectively handle small bumps, predictably control larger impacts and smooth the action in all conditions. The rigid torsion of the front end offers improved handling, while the hollow front axle reduces unsprung weight. Suspension settings are fully customizable to meet the requirements of most riders.
bosch anti-lock braking system (ABS)
the Zero S and Zero SR are equipped with Bosch's advanced anti-lock braking system (ABS), which improves control in a wide range of conditions and ensures the best braking performance. The large 320 mm diameter unsupported front brake disc increases braking power.
dashboard and controls
zero's instrument panel is designed to provide fast, useful and accurate information such as charge level, power output and selected riding profile. You can juggle the three driving modes using the ergonomic switch on the right to better determine your riding needs: sport, eco, custom. The dashboard display is a blue backlit LCD screen. It blends in perfectly with the front of the motorcycle. Want more information about your motorcycle while you're riding or at home? Try the Zero Motorcycles app.
zero Motorcycles applications
with the Zero Motorcycles app, you have access to detailed information about your motorcycle, such as remaining recharge time, average watts per kilometer, total recharge cycles and much more. When you're stationary, the app lets you set the performance profile of the customized riding mode, adjusting parameters for maximum speed, maximum torque and maximum regenerative braking. When you're riding your bike, your cell phone transforms into a personalized dashboard that gives you real-time, detailed information about your bike. Synchronized with Bluetooth, the application works on iPhone and Android-based mobile devices.
clutchless drive - Instant torque with just a little difference
featuring clutchless direct drive, the Zero S and Zero SR are designed for rapid acceleration and maximum efficiency. With its more efficient motor, the Zero SR benefits from higher gearing to reach a top speed of 150 km/h. With no need to shift gears, both models deliver controlled, powerful acceleration until you reach your desired speed. The carbon fiber belt eliminates minimal friction losses and increases overall range. What's more, it also plays a key role in eliminating powertrain maintenance and noise.
recharge easily. Recharge anywhere. Up to 85 km per hour of charging
from public Level 2 charging stations to your garage, Zero Motorcycles' charging options are designed to suit your lifestyle. Every Zero motorcycle comes standard with a simple, lightweight cable that plugs into any household outlet.
for faster charging on the road, Zero Motorcycles offers the Charge Tank accessory. This triples the charging speed of the integrated charger, enabling riders to recharge their power pack in just 2-3 hours at Level 2 charging stations. The result is up to 85 km of range for every hour of recharging (based on city range).
for use at home or in the office, Zero Motorcycles' expandable fast-charging system can dramatically reduce recharging times. The system uses up to four independent (external) 1 kW chargers which are used in combination with the motorcycle's standard (built-in) charger.
optional Power Tank technology - up to 317 km in town
the Z-Force® Power Tank provides an additional 2.8 kWh of storage capacity to the power pack of any Zero S or Zero SR motorcycle 2014 or later. Available as an option, the Power Tank can be added at any time, at or after purchase, increasing the maximum battery capacity to 15.9 kWh. With such energy, a rider can cover up to 317 km in town or 158 km on the freeway at 113 km/h.

i'll try to answer your question
an internal combustion engine has poor efficiency, especially on a motorcycle. consuming 6 litres/100 for a machine weighing less than 200kg is really very bad
on the electric motor, we have motors with an efficiency of over 95% today, and if we manage friction losses properly, we can achieve a fair fuel consumption, depending on weight and aerodynamics
On a motorcycle, there are far fewer aerodynamic losses, which means less power consumption...
otherwise, I've been riding an SR for 2 years, and I'll never be able to get on a combustion engine again... yuck!

Worth looking into.
Better than a Twizy 80. Rating : 3/5 Respond to Herve46
Aesthetics close to those of a combustion engine, acceptable performance, even sufficient for normal use...
More progress to be made on recharging time and... price.
