presentation of the SR 2015
More power. Higher top speed. Better acceleration.
the Zero S "R" configuration is designed for riders who simply want to go faster and accelerate harder. Aptly named for its performance and ability to dominate, the Zero SR features a higher-performance (660 amp) motor control unit that delivers 25% more power and 56% more torque. To cope with this surge in power, the Zero SR's motor uses higher-temperature magnets that ensure better performance over longer durations at higher speeds.
capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 4 seconds, and reaching speeds of over 160 km/h thanks to direct drive, the Zero SR offers spirited riders a serious advantage when it comes to sporty riding. The only bike in the range available in red. The motorcycle's tank area is highlighted by the sophisticated "Zero SR" emblem, and the rear end features the engine control unit and its bold, elegant heatsink.
new for 2015
the Zero S and Zero SR have always offered breathtaking power, smooth acceleration and the purity of a ride that enhances the most enjoyable criteria of a traditional motorcycle experience. The 2015 models will even disappear behind you as you take to the roads with the new Showa suspension, Bosch anti-lock brakes (ABS) and high-performance Pirelli tires. While the Zero S and Zero SR are already the electric motorcycles with the longest range in series production, they now offer riders 10% more range thanks to an optimized battery cell configuration. That's up to 298 km of riding pleasure.
zero Motorcycles worked closely with Showa to develop the suspension for the Zero S range. This suspension predictably controls higher impacts and softens the action in all conditions. The torsional rigidity of the front section has been improved for better handling, and the front wheel axle is hollow to reduce unsprung weight. Suspension settings are now fully customizable to meet the requirements of many riders.
designed to make twisty roads even more enjoyable, the new modern wheels, Pirelli tires and ABS provide, together with the high-performance suspension, both greater confidence and control. Drivers can also take advantage of stylish new rear-view mirrors that give them excellent visibility of the vehicles they've just overtaken.
z-Force® battery technology- 240+ km range and 540,000+ km service life
the 2015 Zero S and Zero SR feature advanced chemical cell and battery management systems that deliver greater capacity and longer range. The ZF12.5 power pack gives you over 240 km and is designed to last as long as your bike. The result of cutting-edge research and development: each cell in the power pack is individually controlled and monitored to ensure optimum performance. The highly efficient on-board charger reduces recharging time and can operate in parallel with Zero Motorcycles' external recharging systems. What does this mean? The Zero S and Zero SR are the best in terms of acceleration, range and longevity among mass-produced electric motorcycles.
new Power Tank technology - up to 298 km in town
the Z-Force® Power Tank provides 2.8 kWh of storage capacity for the power pack of any 2015 Zero S or Zero SR motorcycle. Available as an option, the Power Tank can be added at any time, at purchase or afterwards, increasing the maximum battery capacity to 15.3 kWh. With this level of energy, a rider can expect a range of 298 km in town or 151 km on the freeway.
z-Force® engine - up to 67 hp (50 kW), 14.7 mkg, and incredibly efficient
zero Motorcycles designed the Z-Force® engine from the ground up to be compact, efficient and powerful. It delivers exhilarating acceleration to a top speed of 164 km/h, just like the Zero SR. Fully air-cooled, the engine is designed to deliver a fantastic driving experience with no regular maintenance required. When you slow down, the motor generates electricity which is fed back into the power pack to extend driving time.
chassis and body
aircraft-grade aluminum is used exclusively in the construction of the double-spar chassis on the Zero S and Zero SR. It's light, strong and one of the main reasons why the bikes handle so incredibly well. Designed to have a low center of gravity, the bikes are highly maneuverable and responsive. The refined appearance is rounded off by elegant bodywork with a modern, aggressive, stripped-down look. The body's fuel tank area features an integrated, lockable and removable storage compartment. The tank area can also be replaced by the Power Tank accessory, giving the power pack an additional 2.8 kWh of capacity.
showa suspension
zero Motorcycles worked closely with Showa to develop the suspension systems. These handle small bumps perfectly, control larger impacts predictably and smooth out the action in all conditions. The rigid torsion of the front end offers improved handling, while the hollow front axle reduces unsprung weight. Suspension settings are fully customizable to meet the requirements of most riders.
bosch anti-lock braking system (ABS)
the Zero S and Zero SR are equipped with Bosch's advanced anti-lock braking system (ABS), which improves control in a wide range of conditions and ensures the best braking performance. The large 320 mm diameter unsupported front brake disc increases braking power.
tires and wheels
the Zero S and Zero SR are fitted as standard with Pirelli tires that provide great traction, excellent longevity and excellent road feel. The tires are mounted on elegant cast-alloy wheels fitted with durable bearings.
dashboard and controls
the instrument panel is designed by Zero to quickly provide useful and accurate information such as load level, power output and selected riding profile. You can juggle the three riding modes using the ergonomic switch on the right to better determine your riding needs: sport, eco, custom. The dashboard display is a blue backlit LCD screen. It blends in perfectly with the front of the motorcycle. Want more information about your motorcycle while you're riding or at home? Try the Zero Motorcycles app.
zero Motorcycles applications
with the Zero Motorcycles app, you have access to detailed information about your motorcycle, such as remaining recharge time, average watts per kilometer, total recharge cycles and much more. When you're stationary, the app lets you set the performance profile of the customized riding mode, adjusting parameters for maximum speed, maximum torque and maximum regenerative braking. When you're riding your bike, your cell phone transforms into a personalized dashboard that gives you real-time, detailed information about your bike. Synchronized with Bluetooth, the app works on iPhone and Android-based mobile devices. The app is available in English, German, French, Spanish and Dutch.
clutchless drive
featuring clutchless direct drive, the Zero S is designed for rapid acceleration and maximum efficiency. With its more efficient motor, the Zero SR benefits from higher gearing to reach a top speed of 160 km/h. With no need to shift gears, both models deliver controlled, powerful acceleration until you reach your desired speed. The carbon fiber belt eliminates minimal friction losses and increases overall autonomy. It also makes the drive train maintenance-free.
rechargeable from any standard socket, anywhere
the Zero S and Zero SR recharge system is integrated into the motorcycle and can be plugged into any standard socket. No additional equipment is required for standard charging. This means you can comfortably recharge your motorcycle in your garage, at the office or when you stop off at one of your favorite spots on a motorcycle outing. Recharging times can be reduced by ~75% thanks to the extendable external recharging system*

i'll try to answer your question
an internal combustion engine has poor efficiency, especially on a motorcycle. consuming 6 litres/100 for a machine weighing less than 200kg is really very bad
on the electric motor, we have motors with an efficiency of over 95% today, and if we manage friction losses properly, we can achieve a fair fuel consumption, depending on weight and aerodynamics
On a motorcycle, there are far fewer aerodynamic losses, which means less power consumption...
otherwise, I've been riding an SR for 2 years, and I'll never be able to get on a combustion engine again... yuck!

Worth looking into.
Better than a Twizy 80. Rating : 3/5 Respond to Herve46
Aesthetics close to those of a combustion engine, acceptable performance, even sufficient for normal use...
More progress to be made on recharging time and... price.
