presentation of the F 900 GS Dark Edition 2025
The F 900 GS recaptures the spirit of the open road and adventure that most adventure bikes have lost. It’s a true machine for tackling off-road trails, cruising down the highway without being a touring bike, and enjoying top-notch versatility.
But the BMW badge doesn’t come cheap. This is nothing new, and crossing the Bavarian threshold requires an investment (which pays off when it comes time to resell).
Except that with this F 900 GS "Dark Edition, " the price tag is surprisingly low. It’s the base model to which BMW France adds the Dynamic package—meaning the addition of the Up&Down shifter and three extra riding modes. The rider will thus have at their disposal:
- Road Mode for lively and consistent performance.
- Rain Mode, which makes throttle response smoother; ideal on wet or slippery roads.
- Dynamic Mode to unleash the twin’s maximum performance.
- Enduro Mode, providing smooth throttle response and optimal traction off-road.
- Enduro Pro Mode, optimized for knobby tires, with a customizable setup and rear-wheel ABS disabled.
A hidden gem
In the catalog, the mid-range GS equipped this way costs just over 15,000 euros. Except that the Dark Edition label means a discount. Through the end of September, this bike is 2,575 euros off its list price. And so it goes for 12,500 euros. That’s enough to change how you view this bike. A 900 GS at nearly the same price as an MT-09 SP—that’s not something you see every day.
A small sticker or badge to “mark” this special edition would have been nice. But we’ll easily overlook that while enjoying the savings. Especially since we have a high-performance model on our hands: a 105-horsepower twin-cylinder engine, an Akrapovic muffler, traction control, heated grips, hand guards, a beautiful 6.5-inch color TFT screen, spoked wheels, a true explorer look, and a natural urge to go off-roading.
In the same vein but with more muscle, the R 1300 GS is also available in a Dark Edition, with additional unique equipment and a reduced price as well.
