presentation of the R 1300 GS Adventure Dark Edition 2026
Remember Ducati’s “Dark” editions? Models with a more basic finish, for a few euros less, but with the same riding pleasure.
BMW approaches the concept with a more personal twist. Its “Dark Editions” are just as dark, come at a more appealing price, but here, the equipment is upgraded. This small family of special editions, available exclusively in France, began with the F 900 GS and the R 1300 GS; now here comes the R 1300 GS Adventure Dark Edition.
With a name like that, the most fitting color—and thus finish—is Triple Black. Building on this theme, the GSA stands out from the base model with heated comfort seats, a more refined-looking aluminum fuel tank, tie-down hooks on the sides, and various shades of black throughout.
Even more on the Dark Edition: the tank scoops, the windshield, and the fairings carry a piece of the night with them. A time when, while everyone sleeps peacefully, it’s the hour when the night owls descend on the city. Since the GS is highly coveted, BMW has included an anti-theft alarm here.
All told, it’ll set you back over 25,000 bucks. Except that the R 1300 GSA Dark Edition is priced at 22,900 euros. A nice discount, provided you order it before the end of June.
This deal isn’t exclusive to this model: all 1300 Adventure models come with a customer discount for orders placed between April 1, 2026, and June 30, 2026.
This 1300 GSA costs three times as much as the F 450 GS we tested just recently. Which, of course, isn’t in the same league. The 1300 has 100 more horsepower, weighs 100 kg more—and comes with 100 more features?
Not quite, but close: the Adventure is a heavy-duty exploration vessel, with a top-tier 145 hp, 15.2 kgm variable-valve-timing engine, a massive 30-liter fuel tank, tank-like protection (and appearance), electronic DAS suspension, an adjustable windshield, heated grips, traction control, 4 riding modes, onboard sensors, adaptive cruise control, 12V and USB ports, a 6.5-inch color TFT display, advanced onboard electronics, an engine guard, crash bars, and so on, and so on…
A true aircraft carrier of the road, which would feel cramped in a strait and is only suited to wide-open spaces and long journeys. BMW France aims to offer it new opportunities with its Dark Edition. Are you ready? It certainly is!
