Motorcycle specifications CFMOTO800 MT-X 2025 A certain Adventure R in the sights

On-Off Road

We're not yet seeing them on every street corner... But CFMoto's machines are building a beachhead that's far from anecdotal. The MT trail squad would gladly take to more intrepid terrain than the road. So, the 800 MT-X is ready to take on the a(d)venture.

Some brands don't bother with a sticker, mixed tires and a khaki T-shirt to create something new. CFMoto, on the other hand, put in the work, nicked solutions here and there, and came up with a truly specific version. The staff are serious and want to be taken seriously.

The MT-X clearly shows its off-road orientation with rally undertones. And with it, an equivocal change of style. The whole front end of the 800 MT has undergone a serious makeover, with a high front mudguard replacing the standard model, new half-X side panels, a modified fuel tank extending downwards in exactly the same way as the KTM Adventure, new handguards, the disappearance of the crash bars, a more compact bubble (adjustable by 50 mm) and a different engine cowling.

It's clear that the 800 MT-X wants a sportier TT commitment. With this in mind, it adopts a flatter, one-piece seat, simplified passenger grips, new footpegs, a folding shifter and brake pedal, and wheels more suited to the outings it promises. The front rim becomes a true trail bow with 90/90 - 21. The rear rim retains its 150 width, but grows from 17 to 18 inches. Tires are also upgraded to studded.
The brakes are J.Juan 4-piston radial calipers clamping 320 mm Xihu discs at the front. The 260 mm rear is fitted with a 2-piston caliper.
As for the Kayaba suspension, CFMoto has a surprise in store for us.

You'll see a 48 mm upside-down fork, bigger than the ones on the 800 MT Sport, Touring and Explore. Okay, it's getting ready to take a beating. But what's next, when it comes to overcoming clods of earth, gravel or fords? That's where it all comes in... The MT-X is available on the market with two different suspension travels - 190 mm or 230 mm. As a result, ground clearance is either 200 mm or 240 mm. Obviously, this influence extends to the seat height, set at 830 mm or 870 mm depending on which version you choose. Will CFMoto France offer both?

CFMoto 800 MT-Xthe MT-X packs 3.5 liters more fuel than its siblings. Although the substantial increase in range will be a key factor for some enthusiasts - for them, the manufacturer has made an additional 8-liter tank available as an option.
Another factor that will have a major influence on the way this trail bike is driven is its dry revs. At 220 kilos ready to roll, it's 11 kg lighter than the MT Sport.
Let's change dimension and point of view. A KTM 890 Adventure, its antipodean cousin, weighs 196 kg dry; the Chinese model claims 198. Now it's getting interesting...

Except that these trekking ladies don't quite play in the same league. The Katoche benefits from a bigger, more powerful engine. Not one for revenge, the 800 MT-X is powered by the same block as the other MTs: the 790 version of the LC8c block. The twin-cylinder engine does a good job of taking the family with 91 hp and a maximum torque of 8.8 mkg.

CFMoto has equipped the MT-X with a large, upright 7-inch TFT display and a series of electronic modules: three riding modes (Standard - Offroad - Rain), Bosch traction control and cornering ABS, dual USB and 18W USB-C ports, connectivity, full LED lighting, cruise control, tire pressure monitoring and an Up&Down shifter.
According to our estimates, the CFMoto 800 MT-X should be very well priced, close to 10,000 euros. .

French Model 2025
I have to say, it looks ultra interesting on paper! I'm currently looking for a replacement for my 2015 R1200GSA to go back to an off-road trail bike, and it's getting tighter and tighter. I've already had a V-Strom 800DE (excellent bike, by the way), but I'm looking for a change too, so I won't be going back for one. Right now, it's between the Tuareg 660, the 450MT, the T7 from 2025 and now, the 800MT-X. In the end, when you look at the spec sheets, well, the 800MT-X would almost be the best. Wheel travel and ground clearance almost on a par with a Tuareg, and the same goes for technology. Superior to the T7 on almost every level, because even if it weighs more than the others, well, the fact that the tank is similar to that of the KTMs should give it a really low center of gravity. What's more, it has a bolt-on rear buckle, unlike the Tuareg's, which is welded. But above all, it's the price! new for €10,000, it's €1,000 cheaper than a T7, €2,600 cheaper than a Tuareg (and it offers just as much), and if you compare it to the 890 Adventure (because it's much closer in off-road terms than a 790), well, that's a difference of over €5,000! Now, you're going to tell me that there's the Kove 800X due to arrive at the end of the year. But apart from the lack of long-term return in terms of reliability (unlike the 800MT block, which has already been on the market for several years), well, the CFMoto network is much wider than that of Kove. In any case, for me, the nearest CFMoto dealership is just over 30 minutes away (like all the other brands, in fact), whereas Kove is at least 1h30 away, and even then, when you go to the garage's website, there's absolutely nothing about Kove or a possible way to reserve one. And after that, it's between 2h and 3h on the road, in other words, not even in your dreams... That leaves the 450MT, which has slightly lower off-road performance but costs 4500€ less too. On the other hand, it has the advantage of tubeless rims, like the Tuareg. Here, even if I understand the bike's off-road orientation, they could have offered tubeless rims straight away, bearing in mind that the majority of bikes sold will be used mainly on the road. It's a shame, because the rear wheel was the same size as the 450MT, give or take 10mm, and they could have used the same tubeless rims... But in any case, I can't wait for it to be available so I can try it out and make up my mind! Rating : 5/5
French
As a young licensee, I hesitated for a long time between the 800 mt-x and the t7. I tried the 800 de and the transalp, which didn't thrill me at all, but the t7 was a pleasure for me throughout the test ride. I was on the verge of signing a purchase order for the mt-x without having tried it and I got a very good deal on a t7 2024 with 200kms and being a2 I told myself that on resale it would be easier and that in 2 years I'd have time to see how this mtx evolves in terms of discount etc. But it looks like it's going to be a good one. But it looks like a superb machine that I'll go and try out as soon as it's available for testing! Rating : 5/5

I'm currently riding the CFMOTO 800MT EXPLORE, which has 23,000km on it, and I'm delighted, but I'm looking forward to the arrival of the MTX, which should suit me just fine ✌️ Rating : 5/5
French Model 2025
Well... with this 800 MT-X, I have a feeling that CFMOTO is going to delight us. I've been looking at this range for my future purchase for a while now, and I have to say that they've set the bar high for me, as I'm looking for a versatile off-road trail bike, with features that tick all the boxes. I was on the verge of buying a Ténéré 700 World Raid, but that was before discovering this machine. My criteria are all met, now I just have to be patient. I can't wait to try it out, confirm my expectations and place an order. I'm pretty sure my patience will be rewarded. In any case, CF MOTO wants to show its know-how, and they'll be there.
