presentation of the 800 MT-ES 2026
Did KTM see this coming when the agreement to share technology and engines with CFMOTO was signed? In any case, the 790 Adventure was not informed. If it had, it would never have allowed its 800 MT semi-clone to discreetly enter its territory... and sell far more than it did.
The simply mind-boggling price difference and the level of equipment are a big help to the Chinese. In 2026, the Chinese manufacturer intends to push the envelope with an even higher level of performance. The 790 Katoche had felt its mettle by taking over the suspension from the 890 Adventure - the 800 MT-ES focuses on greater comfort with electronic damping.
This MT-ES model is based on the 800MT Explore. That means 91 horsepower, a strong touring bias and equipment right up to the windshield. It also features electronically controlled suspension. CFMOTO hasn't dipped into the WP catalog (part of the KTM group), but has upgraded its Kayaba components. So, is it the KADS system as on the Yamaha Tracer9 GT or another solution developed in-house? For the moment, the Chinese manufacturer hasn't said much about the technique employed (although some echoes favour this second option).
The 800MT-ES also gets new colors. Is CFMOTO taking this opportunity to add a few extras? Not at all; and what else is there to add, given everything the Chinese model already comes with? Heated saddles and grips, adjustable bubble, spoked wheels with mixed tires, crash bars, engine clamp, luggage racks, center stand, 8" TFT display, traction control, Up&Down shifter, 6 riding modes, cornering ABS, radar blind spot detection, cruise control, 12V and USB sockets, tire pressure monitoring - a slice of equipment as wide as a Benda 700 LFC rear tire.

KTM's LC8c will discover a GT vocation with a machine like this. As always with CFMOTO, the price should be unbeatable. The 800MT range now allows you to aim for committed off-roading with the X, touring with the Explore, touring + with the ES or versatility with the standard version. It's worth pointing out that there aren't many bikes with electronic suspension at this displacement level, and necessarily at muscular prices.
The manufacturer has added a big brother, the 1000MT-X, to take the model and the brand to the next level. But that's another story.
