Ducati has long honored its most glorious riders with special series. But sometimes, the tribute turns to illustrious figures who never rode for the brand. Ayrton Senna is one such person. One of the most emblematic drivers in the history of Formula 1 left us a long time ago, but his memory remains strong. Outside his bucket, Ayrton loved Ducati. And Ducati returned the favor.

Several 916s were built in his name in the 90s. Then an 1199 Panigale S rekindled the flame in 2014. This time, it's a Monster that bears the Senna name. With a brightly colored dress, a real day of celebration from one end of the bike to the other.

The Bologna-based firm draws as much inspiration from the Brazilian flag as from the decoration on Senna's helmet. A dominance of yellow, with a hint of blue and green. The saddle cowl and headlamp cap match this samba look. Look out for the S in the blue saddle and the motto on the tank: "Racing is in my blood". Not so much a motto as the title of Ayrton's video biography. It's almost a philosophy of life, and one that suited Senna particularly well.

Ducati created the Senna limited series on the basis of the Monster SP. The latter features öhlins suspension, Termignoni exhausts, lighter parts and Stylema brake calipers. Here, the equipment goes up a notch, with a yellow finish for the Brembo brake shoes, forged aluminum wheels, carbon-fiber mudguards, an adjustable Öhlins steering damper, machined aluminum footrests and an engine block.

Having a Monster Senna has to be earned. First, you have to sell your eye to get the 25 bricks you need to buy one. Then, you have to be one of the 341 people to sign the order form. This number was chosen to celebrate the 3 world championship titles and 41 victories of Prost's best rival. The serial number will be inscribed on a plate fixed to the fork crown. As is customary for this kind of speciality, the bike will be supplied with a certificate of authenticity and a dedicated protective cover.
