presentation of the 1098 Streetfighter 2009
ducati's new roadster... No, the new monster from Bologna. The overpowering 1098 Streetfighter. And then it hits you. It's beastly, it's furious, it smells like gunpowder. What a face!
with its menacing aplomb, the new Streetfighter is a fine exercise in roadster bad-assery, exuding power all over the place, dressed up in a design as muscular as it is edgy. And when it comes to performance and feel, we won't be disappointed. Ducati has taken the 1098, removed the bracelets to install handlebars, and swapped the fairing for a minimalist bodywork, a tiny but distinguished forkhead - note the little nightlights that take up the look of the 1098, in a very Terminator robot style... and a little Japanese in some respects. - Add a barely reworked 1098 ass, 2 side exhausts (as on the S2R and S4R) in a very warrior-like format, and you have the most bestial of Ducati roadsters, and even one of the angriest of the moment. Because you've got all the superbike stuff on it: hypersport trellis frame, the 1098 engine downsized to 155 hp (just 5 less than on the sports bike), 11.7 mkg of torque, the same monobar (but lengthened, which increases the wheelbase and gives the Streetfighter its own geometry) with a superb Marchesini rim, the inverted fork finished with Brembo monobloc radial calipers hovering over 330 mm-diameter discs... It's not really a street-fighter anymore, but rather a street-racing-fighter. The scariest part is that the machine weighs in at just under 170 kg. A power-to-weight ratio like that on a roadster commands respect!
the new replacement for the Monster S4 series, the 1098 Streetfighter will be offered in standard and S versions with Öhlins suspension. In terms of pricing, the Streetfighter is far from cheap. As an exclusive, it also commands a higher price than most of today's 1000 hypersports bikes. But its equipment and fighting terrain is not really the same as that of the Z 1000, Speed Triple, CB 1000 R and FZ1. In the near future, there's no reason why Ducati can't offer an 848 version, given the technical similarities between these sporty siblings.

I've always dreamed of a Ducati, but budget and reliability always held me back.
Well, bought in May this year, this bike is just FANTASTIC!
The insane torque, the radical power, the look and the noise... In short, bliss!
Change the original handlebars for a Rizoma and you've got THE bike of your dreams....
Lifting up to 4, Valentino-style cornering, sick braking, and, with Michelin Power SuperSport, cornering is a breeze...
I've never had a bike so fun, stable, exciting, beautiful, looked at by everyone and with such a great sound...
Let's be objective, the only flaw is the 2 left-hand pots... I'm looking for a manufacturer to make a Monstro-style left and right outlet, or one under the seat like the sport version...

excellent performance and handling, and vibrates less than the 848 in any case I find. just one flaw for my taste: the location of the exhausts: aesthetically not great and the heat shield is a bit annoying for the heel, but still, bravo ducati! Rating : 5/5 Respond to mustang51
But it's certainly very effective, very easy, very compact, very homogeneous and will probably sell very well too. I just hope it's more of a range extension for the Italian brand, which needs to win over new customers, than the start of the new Ducati era. Gaz to all Rating : 5/5 Respond to Neigel
although the spec sheet is attractive, i wouldn't consider buying it even if i had extra money. Rating : 5/5 Respond to dabiker999
