presentation of the Multistrada 1200 S Touring 2014
whether discreetly or spectacularly, the Multistrada has evolved to present this 4th version (from memory: 2003: 1000 MTS; 2007: 1100 MTS; 2010: 1200 MTS; 2013: 1200 MTS "2"). For this second opus of the second generation, Ducati has made a number of changes: 150-hp Testastretta engine, reworked for greater torque and flexibility, 3-stage ABS, very slight facelift, LED lights, more protective windscreen, Panigale-style wheels.... and most spectacular of all: the S version features a profoundly modified suspension system.
for ages, Bologna's S models have been equipped with Öhlins. For 2013, the Multistrada S Touring has changed all that, abandoning Swedish suspension in favor of the all-new Skyhook system.
What does it mean? Simply put: a Sachs fork and shock absorber with semi-active electronic management. To make it more complicated: Ducati Skyhook Suspension (DSS) is a huge gas factory for adapting damping in real time. The first step is to install a series of sensors on the wheel:
Vertical accelerometers are placed on the lower fork crown and on the rear frame to provide so-called "suspended" data. Another series of sensors, mounted close to the wheels on the fork and swingarm, transmit "non-suspended" information. To complete this information on the machine's movements, the DSS also analyzes data from the traction control's longitudinal accelerometers and ABS pressure sensors.
Headache? The Skyhook doesn't: it synthesizes all this data and then reacts by immediately adapting the damping in compression or rebound. Real-time adjustment takes into account the Riding Mode used. Each of these can be complemented by a "rider only", "rider with luggage", "rider and passenger", or "rider and passenger with luggage" selection. With all this, the bike provides you with à la carte damping aided by auto-adaptation according to road and riding profile.
the Multistrada S Touring gives itself more means to enhance its efficiency and versatility. Comfort-wise, the Multistrada S Touring boasts an impressive array of equipment: heated handgrips, 58 liters of luggage capacity, two 12V sockets, center stand, two gloveboxes, hands-free starting, etc... The 2013 MTS 1200 takes the opportunity to inaugurate a new mixed tire, the Pirelli Scorpion Trail, with a dual-compound component.
equipped with a veritable arsenal of technology and formidable firepower, the Multistrada 1200 in this S Touring version asserts itself as the benchmark for sporty trail travelers. The price will be in line with the demanding nature of the product. And for those aiming for greater touring capabilities, Ducati offers a more upscale version: the Granturismo.

Bikers' reviews Leave a review - 2 reviews
This S version allows me to cover the miles with my wife in comfort that's never been denied
i can ride cool around town on the throttle, even if the V2 isn't at its best, or ride a sport bike with a harder suspension and an engine that reminds me of a roadster (and I've owned several)
There are certainly more comfortable ways of putting in the miles, but I'm delighted with the bike's everyday versatility Rating : 5/5 Respond to Alainrae
Best regards to all DUCATISTS,
