presentation of the Streetfighter 848 2015

when Ducati presented the 1098 Streetfighter at the end of 2008, we quickly imagined that a little brother would follow in its footsteps, like the 1198 and 848 sports bikes. However, we had to wait 3 years for this to happen, even though it wasn't technically very complicated to modify the twin installed in this chassis. But now it's finally here, and the nasty roadster from Bologna opens up to a wider public with this 848 Streetfighter.

stylistically, it's indistinguishable from the big 1098. Same aggressive, eye-catching design, single-arm, dual exhaust, vicious face, sporty ass and Italian-style chassis. It's pure adrenaline roadster, with charm, aggression and unsweetened twin. With a view to teaching the Streetfighter less exclusive ways, the factory has reworked and softened the ergonomics: the seat and saddle differ from the big SF.
In the trellis frame, the 849.4 cm3 engine comes from the youngest of the Bolognese sports bikes. Its cylinder head differs somewhat in that it features the 11° valve timing already found on the Multistrada and Diavel - enough to soften the twin's fiery character. What's more, it means fewer overhauls, but not much (and so much the better) in the way of power. the SF 848 retains the bulk of its 140 hp, but the engine's temperament has been tweaked to suit the roadster spirit. The 132 horsepower figure heralds a good series of sensations, with 9.5 mkg of torque displaced in the mid-range and a growling character. This is all the more reason to set the pace, as not only does the chassis have a strong arsailing smell, but the machine also weighs in at just 169 kg. That's the same weight as the big SF, which is logical given that standardization means that many parts are shared between the two models.

but to keep prices down and preserve the prestige of the 1098 Streetfighter, the 848 dispensed with one-piece ethe discs are smaller, but still 320 mm, and the suspension components are Marzocchi rather than Showa. But 90% of users won't give a damn, because the equipment is still worthy of a female pistol: top-rigid steel trellis frame (but softer than on the sporty 848, to make it more docile), 43 mm inverted fork, Brembo 4-piston radial-mount calipers; the bonus is easier riding than with the more demanding big brother, especially as the little brawler is equipped with Ducati Traction Control as standard. And to analyze your performance, you can add DDA (available from the options catalog).

Top this Ducati, I've just bought one and I'm delighted. Power from 4000 rpm. The lightness, the ease of handling... and the OMG noise. With Termignoni exhausts, it screams louder than your mother. In short, a real treat for the hills. My girlfriend often rides with me on the passenger saddle, just buy a triboseat and she doesn't have to worry about her comfort.

The position is confusing, but after 30 minutes on it, it's pure bliss!
I won't be changing it anytime soon!
Now equipped with a performance kit (termignoni), the bike breathes and expresses itself much more!
I love it <3

I've had my share of bikes, but this is one of them!!!!For me, it's the ultimate sporty roadster. At first, it's confusing to get the hang of, but after a hundred kilometers or so, it's a total blast. This bike is really made for 100% pleasure. Boone route les motards..... Rating : 5/5

Compared to the S4R... it's better to have the ultimate Monster in terms of feel and performance... the styling and DTC are to the StreetFighter's advantage... but the S4R's molding and chassis still make the youngster drool. Rating : 2/5

That's a very personal opinion... Having ridden it and tested quite a few Ducatis in the past, I don't find that it has anything to envy to the Monster 1100 EVO in terms of performance or feel, even if the latter is more torquey at low revs. It's more the way you ride it that's different. As for an S4RS, even though I'm a huge fan of this model, I can't see how it would be better or more advantageous... Rating : 5/5
