presentation of the 1262 XDiavel by Roland Sands 2016
Now that the Xdiavel has set out to conquer the Americas, it knows that it's venturing into territory where motorcyclists do more than just ride. On the other side of the Atlantic, people like to customize and appropriate machines to express their own vision of motorcycling. Roland Sands has set his sights on the Ducati cruiser, emancipating it somewhat.
The tuner had his work cut out for him, and a challenge for Ducati. With this machine, Ducati was taking part in the 76th Sturgis Rally for the first time. This is an event not to be missed: half a million motorcyclists attend the rally. A little brainpower and a lot of parts later, the XDiavel lengthens its line and flirts more with a typically American expression.
The most interesting part is undeniably the huge piece that unites the tank and the rear end in a single piece. The front grows in stature with a 19-inch wheel. Then Roland Sands offers the Italian hot-rod a selection of machined aluminum parts: belt cover, keyless fuel filler cap, handlebar ends, brake and clutch fluid reservoir, casing covers, plus various trinkets.
All these RSD-created accessories are not just for Sturgis to show off. They are part of the Ducati Performance catalog, so that anyone can further customize their XDiavel. You'd almost forget its huge 1262 cm3 twin, the biggest of the brand, and its copious power: 156 hp and 13.1 mkg. The biggest Harleys, Victory or Indian can't compete on this terrain.
