presentation of the 1920 Road Glide ST FLTRXST 2022

The Road Glide has always had a very similar destiny to the Street. Virtually identical, the main difference between them is their faces. For the Road, it's the imposing Shark Nose, fixed to the frame; the sister model prefers the Batwing, more discreet but also more penalizing because it's mounted on the steering. But it's really a question of style preference.

Both are available in ST versions. A designation that takes them to a level of velocity above all the manufacturer's baggers and tourers. For the exhilaration of speed? To turn cruising into highways speeding? Rather, to push on to the end of the road, and discover new ones more quickly.

That's how the Road Glide moves with a good hundred horsepower. ST is synonymous with a bigger, fatter, more muscular engine. The CVO-sourced M8 block provides 1923 cm3 of combustion in the cylinders. After a good push on the throttle, the torque expresses itself with depth and exults at 3,500 rpm, where it reaches its maximum of 17.1 mkg. Aggressive air filtering, a chunky displacement and a high-performance camshaft boost the watts of this Bigest Twin called 117 ci.

But the horsepower (103) and overflowing torque aren't enough to satisfy heavy-duty riders. There are those who are delighted to have only sound and mechanical vibrations to entertain them. And there's a growing number of high-tech enthusiasts. Who will appreciate the Boom! Box GTS, with 6.5-inch color touchscreen, GPS navigator, radio, MP3 player, smartphone pairing, intercom and dual speakers in the fairing.

The chassis has been designed with authenticity in mind, both in terms of construction and materials. This doesn't prevent it from adopting slightly more modern peripherals, with a 49 mm fork featuring an internal double-valve system, a shock absorber with remote preload adjustment, ABS and Reflex interconnected brakes, cruise control and a hands-free security system.

Harley-Davidson 1920 Road Glide ST FLTRXST when you see the Road Glide ST, its single-seater seat, its black (or grey) paintwork with its omnipresent dark scent, its bronze-coloured rims... It's not hard to imagine that it's destined for a "King Of The Baggers" rider who'd like to have a bike with the same verve for civilian use. In the midst of the endless catalog of accessories, the company also offers an optional safety package, with ABS and interconnected brakes that react when cornering, angle-sensitive traction control with riding modes, tire pressure monitoring, hill-start assist and residual engine torque control, also sensitive when cornering.

And that's not even mentioning the price, which is even bigger than the engine. One might wonder what will rub first, the running boards or the protective bars; owners will have 31° to 32° of angle to find the answer. The Road Glide ST has no intention of dwelling on this. It's all about getting to the horizon as quickly as possible.
