Harley has always paid great attention to its festivities, not only to maintain its legend but also to encompass its fans in a microcosm of poise. That's the kind of feeling you get when you ride a 120th Anniversary Road Glide. A beautiful liner displaying its red-bordeaux crest along the long roads it's so fond of.

Just as much so as the 120th Anniversary Street Glide, of which it is a narrow derivative. Between the two, same engine, same chassis, but different looks. The big "Shark Nose" fork head gives a singular, massive aplomb to this heavy bagger.

But let's get back to these twelve decades of existence. It's a solemn moment for the brand, and blends into the decor of a depth as rewarding as the big century that precedes it. This model benefits from a paint finish using "Heirloom Red brillant" as the base color. Each part of the fairing is delineated by a fine bright red border and filled with a darker "Midnight Crimson" gradient. Additional details include a tank medallion with an Art Deco eagle motif, a seat cover with a gold-embroidered Harley-Davidson logo encircled by red side panels, and gradient red engine inserts.

There's very little chrome on this Road Glide. The exhausts, most of the engine, forks, handlebars and virtually everything else that glitters have been turned black. Except for the wheels, in the same golden hue as the 117 ci Road Glide ST. This dark plateau of Dark and crimson lends another dimension to this bagger, at once intense and almost reasonable in the face of the sumptuous Ultra Limited and CVO Road Glide Limited badged 120th Anniversary.

Mechanical commemorations are very often limited editions. The same goes for the Road Glide, of which 1,600 units will leave the Harley factory. The same number as for the Street, and at virtually the same price. That way, no jealousy.

Both models are committed to providing their crews with a certain level of comfort: nicely-sized seat, Boom Box GTS multimedia system with 6.5" TFT screen, two cockpit speakers, Bluetooth connection for smartphone, 32-liter capacity per suitcase, rider assistance package (traction control, ABS, interconnected braking and residual torque management all responsive in corners - tire pressure control - hill-start assist)... and above all that big 1868 cm3 engine. A fat, muscular block as only America can make them, always ready to squash your shoulders thanks to its 16.1 mkg of torque.
