presentation of the CBR 1000 RR-R Fireblade SP John McGuinness 30th Anniversary 2026
Honda has developed a very special bond with John McGuinness. That’s no surprise when you consider the English rider’s performance at the Tourist Trophy, where his CBR averaged nearly 210 km/h.
The manufacturer’s UK branch is launching a special edition Fireblade to celebrate the 30th anniversary of John’s first race at the Tourist Trophy—which took place in 1996. Since then, there have been so many races and victories—and that’s what the CBR 1000 RR-R Fireblade SP John McGuinness 30th Anniversary Replica Limited Edition celebrates.
The Beginnings of a Knight
Spectacular in its blood-red color, it features the livery of the bike McGuinness rode in 2026. But above all, it’s a nod to his early days: his 1996 Honda RS250 sported the colors of Paul Bird Motorsport, John’s longtime sponsor and friend. The distinctive green license plate background used on the 2026 bike is a historic nod to the plates used in the “Lightweight” class. It’s a real eye-catcher and screams “old-school racing” from head to toe.
The original bike is equipped with semi-active Öhlins suspension, Brembo Stylema brake calipers, upgraded electronics, and a roaring 218-horsepower 4-cylinder engine (the most powerful among Japanese hypersport bikes). This JM 30th Anniversary model also comes with a special bonus:
- A numbered plaque on the fork crown
- A tall windscreen
- A matching seat cover
- An HRC oil filler cap
- A GB Racing engine case protection kit
- Metzeler Sportec 01 RS tires
- Radiator and brake lever guards
- Evotech wheel spacers.
That’s what’s on the bike. In addition, Honda UK also provides:
- A Gee-Tech rear workshop stand
- A custom floor mat
- A limited-edition KYT KX-1 “John McGuinness Replica” helmet, autographed by the rider and sized to the customer’s specifications
- A very special ride during the key handover on the Isle of Man: they’ll be able to ride the 37.75 miles / 60.75 km on the TT course, following John.

Only 15 models will be available in this limited edition (why not 30……?). But it won’t be enough to simply pay 37,730 pounds to purchase it— approximately 44,000 euros. This CBR John McGuinness Replica is sold by invitation only. In fact, there’s no online reservation or other option for the average interested buyer— Honda UK will select and contact the VIPs or collectors likely to acquire this piece of racing history. So, if you’re not a celebrity or a major Honda customer, there’s no point in bothering the dealer.
Numerous Accomplishments
John McGuinness has 23 TT victories, 47 podium finishes, successes in nearly every category, notable appearances in the World Endurance Championship, the first rider to average 130 mph on the Isle of Man, and high official recognition as a Member of the Order of the British Empire.
A few years ago, Honda had already honored its star road racer with a CBR 1000 RR-R SP, the 100th TT Start Limited Edition. These two are far from done making waves in the mountain race.
