presentation of the CBF 1000 2010
damned! A big 600 CBF... It's a bit simplistic, but it's certainly the first thought that comes to mind when you discover the 1000 CBF. And how could it be otherwise? The 1000 uses the same concept, the same plastic, the same look and the same technical solutions.
with this machine, Honda is virtually sailing against the tide of the competition. The BMW K 1200 R, the Benelli 1130 TnT, the Yamaha FZ1, the Kawasaki Z 1000, the Ducati S4R, the MV-Agusta 910 Brutale, etc. are all machines with a strong, fiery personality. - The winged manufacturer has chosen to "develop a simple, versatile machine accessible to all, in the image of the CBF 600", according to the press kit. In other words, a good motorcycle with a big engine, but one that doesn't overexaggerate or impress.

there's no innovation on the chassis side, except that the "mono-backbone" frame type seems to be becoming the standard for Honda roadsters. After first appearing on the Hornet 600 and 900, then on the CB 500 and 600, this structure has now colonized the CBF 1000. Consisting of a main steel beam to which the engine is anchored as a stiffening element, this element plays an important role in the compactness of this machine, its dimensions being very close to those of the CBF 600.
The fashion for oversized peripherals has not reached this big roadster. No 50 mm inverted forks or tires as wide as car wheels. The CBF is equipped with a conventional fork 41 mm in diameter, a steel swingarm, a pro-link H.M.A.S shock absorber, and very reasonably sized tires: 120 at the front and 160 at the rear. It doesn't look like much, but it's still agile and wallet-friendly. Braking is also quite standard, except on the "Deluxe" version of the CBF - when it comes with ABS and CBS.

To make power and torque available sooner, the 998 cm3 has undergone a series of modifications. These mainly concerned the following elements: reduced diameter intake and exhaust ducts, modified ignition timing, transferred second injector rail, new air control valve.... and various other improvements, giving us a torque of 9.8 mkg at 6,500 rpm. The CBR 1000 RR delivers torque 2,000 rpm higher, but at 11.7 mkg...
Constructed from stainless steel, the dual exhaust system contains a number of anti-pollution components that enable the CBF 1000 to pass Euro 3 standards, without compromising performance.
is this a tactical or dangerous choice by Honda for its big roadster? If many have been waiting for a Hornet 1000, it's not without reason. In the face of the new FZ1 and other muscular roadsters, the decision to develop a machine that "fits the bill" is a wise one. From the point of view of use, no doubt. But as we've long known, motorcycling is a matter of passion, not reason...

Of course I love this bike too, from 2007, bought in 2021 at 36000km
However, I have two reservations
the jerks in town when you're on the throttle, which I'm told they didn't know how to manage better back then
secondly: a coil blew, which drained my battery (lucky I was with Honda) and cost me a whopping 1350 euros!
Honda-France won't compensate me for a known problem
There you go, have a nice trip. Rating : 4/5 Respond to Nanar81
the hydraulic clutch is very pleasant
An upright position, in short, a pleasure to ride. Rating : 5/5 Respond to Fred
No advice for the moment as I have owned this bike since 2/1/2022
On the other hand, please tell me which bubble you recommend to replace the original one...Touring use..
Thank you for your answers. Rating : 5/5 Respond to bichon
Happiness on every ride.
Versatile
Great for work
I've been a cbist since I got my license
Cb500 (8), a cbf600, and now a 2009 cbf1000
Long live Honda. Rating : 5/5 Respond to Jcb
My only complaint is that the gearbox output sprocket guard is difficult to remove. For chain-cleaning fanatics, it's a pain in the ass. You have to dismantle the selector and take care of the hydraulic clutch rod attached to it. Rating : 5/5 Respond to Steph

I've gone from a CBR to the CBF 1000 ABS, and I must admit that I have a huge fondness (no pun intended) for this bike.
In my opinion, HONDA has done very well with the CBF, 600 or 1000, the riding position is perfect, the power is sufficient (I'm not a competent biker)... it's very forgiving, and also responds to requests...
For the Passenger -SDS, the seat is just right, and allows you to ride for a good while.
Rear damping is easy to adjust.
The bike is economical.
it's a nice bike that I've had for some time now... and despite my advancing age (too), it still has a nice face.
I don't plan to change it.
45,000 kms.
V to you all.
Live in peace. Rating : 5/5 Respond to FX 15
a very economical motorcycle that's great fun to drive. Honda could have fitted low-beam headlights in 2 positions. Rating : 5/5 Respond to hdv
Excellent bike!
Fuel consumption is good, comfort is excellent over the first 200 kms, power is top! excellent acceleration, power at low revs, at high revs. What happiness!
And I'll finish by saying: the CBF 1000 model 2007 is the best vintage! Rating : 5/5 Respond to motard du 66

Well, I rode it 295 km to get home in one go, without any problems despite being 57.
Good riding to all Rating : 5/5 Participate in the conversation
My last bike, in 1997, was an FJ 1100 mod 85 with 125 HP, and I can tell you that I'm laughing out loud at the little complaints about the 1000 CBF, so I'm looking forward to the return of fine weather to resume my joyrides with this bike.
Best wishes to you, my motorcycling friends.

Very good acceleration when needed, but superb machine for touring. Original saddle a little light for passenger (max 150 Km), so a gel saddle (Bagster) is recommended. With two people, rear suspension (even in max position) too soft...tendency to rub the hoof (optional) Combined fuel consumption:
5.5 liters/100 km.

Sober look, no frills. What I like about it. Rating : 5/5 Respond to cerebos
Did you know that in France motorcycles are limited to 100 hp?
Strange comment.... Rating : 5/5 Respond to Babone
This machine has a great future.... Rating : 5/5 Respond to edualc
+ : very smooth and powerful engine at low revs
sporty acceleration at medium and high revs
good comfort and protection
very safe ABS-CBS braking
bike-like handling as soon as it rolls, but..
- heavy when maneuvering from a standstill (+ 250kg)
not very agile on bends (cornering requires commitment)
Overall, a very good, versatile machine, capable of competing with the best in all areas.

I've rediscovered a riding pleasure I'd lost a little..
The ER6 is more of a motorcycle for young licence holders, the CBF for travellers who like their comfort, yet have sufficient power reserves and still want to use their bike on a daily basis. V to all! Rating : 5/5 Respond to caracal
Rating : 5/5 Respond to Hfm1312
Otherwise, very much in tune with its role as a versatile, simple, easy-to-handle bike that won't disappoint on a daily basis, but the complete opposite of the FZ1........, i.e. no fun. The look and colors don't help........... Rating : 5/5 Respond to dafy
As for the rest, it's all good! An engine available at all revs (6th gear at less than 1,500 rpm), exemplary roadholding, and city handling that would make some scooters green with envy
In short, if I had to change now, I'd go back to the same model - unbeatable value for money... Rating : 5/5 Respond to Donkey
The shape of the fairing... In fact, the fairing runs back along the tank, so that a "point" comes right up to my knees (you can see it on the photos). In short, it's impossible for me to ride this bike (I'm 1.85 m tall)
But on the 600 I don't have this problem. The fairing on the 600 is smoothly integrated into the tank.
Too bad... Rating : 5/5 Respond to Diabliste
So explain to me, you're 1m85 tall, you either have a 40 cm bust and all the rest on your legs or you ride sitting on the tank.
I'm 1m90 and my knees never touch the fairing. My saddle is in an intermediate position. Rating : 5/5 Participate in the conversation
with her, I was already up there with the sportbikes, but with this cbr 1000, frankly, I'd be way ahead of them, with the added comfort, and that's in spite of its wise silhouette. Rating : 5/5 Respond to nico800vfr
I've tried the new speed triple 10.50 and the FZ1 but I've just chosen the CBF 1000 ABS and don't regret it: I'm delighted!
It's a fabulous engine too, with torque, pep and adrenalin galore, but what's more, you don't hesitate to take on the 4 lanes like that little local road, and for much longer. All in all, it's a real pleasure Well, in black, it's very handsome, and with a few options, a lot of people turn around when they hear it go by. And then there's an engine you can push without hesitation and without unscrewing your neck
Try it and you'll be hooked!

Bonne route ! ;) Rating : 5/5 Respond to BoB
If the sensations are there at low revs, this should be a fun bike
Mr HONDA did the right thing by fitting a reasonable-sized tire (160) and not giving in to the law of very large tires, which make us lose a lot in terms of handling. Rating : 5/5 Respond to torque
In any case, I'd go and try it out. In dealerships early February, I think. Rating : 5/5 Respond to Papy64
I currently use a Honda CB Seven Fifty for my daily commute and a BMW K1200RS for touring and long trips... With this CBF 1000, Mr Honda has matched my 2 bikes..
I'll definitely be giving it a try when it comes out, because having what my 2 bikes do in 1... my banker and my SDS will be happy! Rating : 5/5 Respond to jeanchris
Sober and with good taste, this Honda has what it takes to seduce, well considering the matching luggage. However, its definition (more modern) reminds me of a machine I owned a few years ago... the Triumph Sprint, the first of its name, an excellent machine with an unforgettable engine. The ultimate version (called the Executive) had very similar specifications to this CBF. Rating : 5/5 Respond to Lucci
