damned! A big 600 CBF... It's a bit simplistic, but it's certainly the first thought that comes to mind when you discover the 1000 CBF. And how could it be otherwise? The 1000 uses the same concept, the same plastic, the same look and the same technical solutions.

with this machine, Honda is virtually sailing against the tide of the competition. The BMW K 1200 R, the Benelli 1130 TnT, the Yamaha FZ1, the Kawasaki Z 1000, the Ducati S4R, the MV-Agusta 910 Brutale, etc. are all machines with a strong, fiery personality. - The winged manufacturer has chosen to "develop a simple, versatile machine accessible to all, in the image of the CBF 600", according to the press kit. In other words, a good motorcycle with a big engine, but one that doesn't overexaggerate or impress.

HONDA CBF 1000 in this spirit, the design of the 1000 CBF is both simple and elegant, with soothing contours and big, mischievous eyes. For lack of sex appeal, it inspires serenity and quiet strength. Its half fairing, stylistically very similar to the 600 version, is equipped with a 2-position, 40 mm adjustable bubble. Protection is announced as being of the highest level. There's a lot of GT in this roadster, which also features a 3-height adjustable seat and handlebars that can be adjusted by more or less 10 mm.

there's no innovation on the chassis side, except that the "mono-backbone" frame type seems to be becoming the standard for Honda roadsters. After first appearing on the Hornet 600 and 900, then on the CB 500 and 600, this structure has now colonized the CBF 1000. Consisting of a main steel beam to which the engine is anchored as a stiffening element, this element plays an important role in the compactness of this machine, its dimensions being very close to those of the CBF 600.
The fashion for oversized peripherals has not reached this big roadster. No 50 mm inverted forks or tires as wide as car wheels. The CBF is equipped with a conventional fork 41 mm in diameter, a steel swingarm, a pro-link H.M.A.S shock absorber, and very reasonably sized tires: 120 at the front and 160 at the rear. It doesn't look like much, but it's still agile and wallet-friendly. Braking is also quite standard, except on the "Deluxe" version of the CBF - when it comes with ABS and CBS.

HONDA CBF 1000What kind of mill does a roadster need these days? Yes, a hypersport mill. The Z 1000 borrowed the ZX-9R 's re-bored block and produced almost 140 hp; the Yamaha FZ1 got the R1 's boiler and announced 150 hp; the CBF 1000 got the CBR Fireblade 's 4-cylinder and announced... 100 hp. Honda has chosen to significantly reduce power (-40% watts) in favor of torque and feel at low and mid-range speeds. It's not stupid to offer only 100 hp, because who can really boast of being able to exploit all the power available on today's machines... vast debate! Will the market follow?
To make power and torque available sooner, the 998 cm3 has undergone a series of modifications. These mainly concerned the following elements: reduced diameter intake and exhaust ducts, modified ignition timing, transferred second injector rail, new air control valve.... and various other improvements, giving us a torque of 9.8 mkg at 6,500 rpm. The CBR 1000 RR delivers torque 2,000 rpm higher, but at 11.7 mkg...
Constructed from stainless steel, the dual exhaust system contains a number of anti-pollution components that enable the CBF 1000 to pass Euro 3 standards, without compromising performance.

is this a tactical or dangerous choice by Honda for its big roadster? If many have been waiting for a Hornet 1000, it's not without reason. In the face of the new FZ1 and other muscular roadsters, the decision to develop a machine that "fits the bill" is a wise one. From the point of view of use, no doubt. But as we've long known, motorcycling is a matter of passion, not reason...

French Rico Model 2007
Bought it at 50,000 km, I quickly changed the front and rear bicycle pumps ...shock factory adjustable gas at the rear, ollins spring and oil at the front, I also got rid of the wheelbarrow handlebars for a street raximo, had the stator rewound and reinforced by a Toulouse box and fitted a digital voltmeter to monitor the load, changed the brake and clutch levers and finally got rid of the crappy battlax bridgestone for 2 michelin road 6 ..... I've totally changed my bike: the handling, attack and trajectory are irreproachable...and the riding position, slightly forward, is perfect... Rating : 4/5

SAFE, COMFORTABLE MACHINE, EASY TO DRIVE DESPITE ITS WEIGHT, BUT RECURRING PROBLEMS WITH THE STATOR AND REGULATOR, WHICH BURN OUT, AND OF COURSE THE BATTERY, WHICH SUFFERS, IS GOOD TO CHANGE. IN SPITE OF ITS ATTRACTIVENESS, WE HAVE TO ADMIT THAT ITS TORQUEY ENGINE IS VERY APPEALING, SO IT'S A GOOD ALL-ROUNDER Rating : 4/5

Hello "patoche". I agree entirely with the comments. Mine is from March 2007 (model with ABS, 45000 kms), and this summer, it failed me (1st time in 50 years of randos...!) because of the stator ...I had it changed by the dealer, hoping that I will be quiet for the next 40.000 kms...! Otherwise, very handy bike, torquey and economical (5,2l/100). Rating : 4/5

Hello everyone,
Of course I love this bike too, from 2007, bought in 2021 at 36000km
However, I have two reservations
the jerks in town when you're on the throttle, which I'm told they didn't know how to manage better back then
secondly: a coil blew, which drained my battery (lucky I was with Honda) and cost me a whopping 1350 euros!
Honda-France won't compensate me for a known problem
There you go, have a nice trip.

I have the 2007 model with ABS/CBS. It's a joy to ride! As soon as you sit on the bike, you feel confident. You have to be wary of the weight on slow corners, but after 20km/h it's as easy to handle as a motorcycle trainer. The 4-cylinder 1000cm3 engine allows you to ride at very low revs, so I shift into 5 in villages or when overtaking, but stay in 6 almost all the time. There's enough torque to get the beast moving again. Braking is reassuring, although despite the CBS I prefer to use front + rear systematically. The original bubble, in its high position, protects well up to 100km/h, but beyond 110 you have to bend over. If you like motorway trips, you'll have to invest in a high bubble. Suspension is soft and designed for leisurely strolls, while sporty riders will appreciate a firmer ride
My only complaint is that the gearbox output sprocket guard is difficult to remove. For chain-cleaning fanatics, it's a pain in the ass. You have to dismantle the selector and take care of the hydraulic clutch rod attached to it.

French Lorenzo88000 Model 2006
I've had my CBF 1000 Abs since 2006! About 3000 km/year and I'm totally delighted. The riding position is very good, and the engine is torquey and sufficiently powerful, since it's designed more for fast, leisurely cruising than for coasting. The weight (250 kg) is inevitably noticeable, and limits your enthusiasm when you want to pick up the pace a little too much on twisty roads, but the center of gravity is well located and the machine is a bike as soon as you hit 10 km/h (and I'm 1.68 m tall and weigh 62 kg). Last year, I tried out the CB1000R model 2018, a real ball, fun, peachy, light … a hyper-sportive without fairings. I almost gave in, but in the end I'm keeping my good CBF, which for me is the ideal machine. Rating : 4/5

i have a 2009 cbf1000 and find it too heavy; in a bend, the slightest distraction and it carries you out of the bend. Good brakes, but that's to be expected given its weight. As for fuel consumption, I'm close to 7 liters when driving calmly, it's too greedy. Otherwise, in terms of driving pleasure, it's top-notch Rating : 3/5

Hi there,
I've gone from a CBR to the CBF 1000 ABS, and I must admit that I have a huge fondness (no pun intended) for this bike.
In my opinion, HONDA has done very well with the CBF, 600 or 1000, the riding position is perfect, the power is sufficient (I'm not a competent biker)... it's very forgiving, and also responds to requests...
For the Passenger -SDS, the seat is just right, and allows you to ride for a good while.
Rear damping is easy to adjust.
The bike is economical.

it's a nice bike that I've had for some time now... and despite my advancing age (too), it still has a nice face.

I don't plan to change it.
45,000 kms.

V to you all.
Live in peace.

I've had this bike since July 2008, original chain kit =50000 km and I think I'll do another 3000 mini, fuel consumption for cruising, speed 90-110 around 5.5 to 6 liters, max 320 km almost dry. Passing at 90 km and in 6 no problem, it goes like a bullet.
a very economical motorcycle that's great fun to drive. Honda could have fitted low-beam headlights in 2 positions.

Fuel consumption is good, comfort is excellent over the first 200 kms, power is top! excellent acceleration, power at low revs, at high revs. What happiness!

After 18 years of laying low to build a child and a house, and then getting back into the swing of things in the spring of 2015 with a 600 Hornet, a 2011 1000 CBF equipped with super GT and 5000 km has made me happy.
My last bike, in 1997, was an FJ 1100 mod 85 with 125 HP, and I can tell you that I'm laughing out loud at the little complaints about the 1000 CBF, so I'm looking forward to the return of fine weather to resume my joyrides with this bike.

To be perfect, my 2nd bike needs a comfort seat, a high bubble and an emc or ohlins shock absorber for better comfort and handling. Especially as a duo and on rough roads, it's much better. Of course there are faster bikes, tomorrow I take my cbr 600 RR, no, in the end I always end up on the 1000 cbr(or my 125 xlr and yes). No servicing, Auchan oil (synthetic) every 10000kms, period. Bought 6000e/2500kms in 2008, this bike is even better than my 4-legged bike I had in 1972, and yet I loved it.

It's a big cube, but an affordable one. A little intimidating at first, you quickly gain confidence thanks to the easy-to-use chassis and engine. The engine doesn't push too hard if you don't accelerate much. In fact, it handles like a smaller-displacement motorcycle at low revs, and accelerates harder if you open up, without however reaching the strength of the Bandit12 I had. But it's not bad all the same, and it's enough to get you down the freeway at a very good pace, without any pick-up problems. The same applies on the road, for acceleration lower down the rev range, with torque present in most cases, and for winding up and linking up without difficulty. The only problem is comfort, due to an excessively firm, bouncy shock absorber, even at medium speeds when the road surface is uneven. All in all, though, this is a good tourer, versatile enough despite its slightly oversized displacement. Rating : 4/5
French rene Model 2009
If I take up the last sentence of your article, well, in the end this bike hasn't sold too badly since its release, the reason being its welcome versatility for a big, streamlined roadster, and its not-too-ugly looks, especially thanks to its two pretty pots offering a pretty nice sound. I've had one for a while now, and I'm happy with it for (auto)road use rather than urban use, although its handling is very real. Fuel consumption is very reasonable (between 5.5 and 6.5l) for a big cube, which is a further source of satisfaction. The engine is supple, smooth and powerful, without being a pushover, yet if you want to... The comfort of the amorto and seat are not up to par with the bike's great road capabilities, but the protection of the fork head is very good, despite the low bubble, and the aerodynamic noise is quite noticeable in the helmet. A motorcycle worthy of a 4.5/5 rating, and for its rather interesting quality/price ratio (abs-cbs included). Rating : 4/5

Easy to ride, adopted within the first few kilometers.
Very good acceleration when needed, but superb machine for touring. Original saddle a little light for passenger (max 150 Km), so a gel saddle (Bagster) is recommended. With two people, rear suspension (even in max position) too soft...tendency to rub the hoof (optional) Combined fuel consumption:
5.5 liters/100 km.

Opinion after 1500km

+ : very smooth and powerful engine at low revs
sporty acceleration at medium and high revs
good comfort and protection
very safe ABS-CBS braking
bike-like handling as soon as it rolls, but..

- heavy when maneuvering from a standstill (+ 250kg)
not very agile on bends (cornering requires commitment)

Overall, a very good, versatile machine, capable of competing with the best in all areas.

I've just given up my ER6 f for a CBF 1000. Nothing to see: better riding position (my wrists hurt on the Kawa), better comfort (I'll finally be able to do a bit of riding again), less noise (my ears thank Honda on long trips), even better handling in town because it's so well balanced..
I've rediscovered a riding pleasure I'd lost a little..
The ER6 is more of a motorcycle for young licence holders, the CBF for travellers who like their comfort, yet have sufficient power reserves and still want to use their bike on a daily basis. V to all!

I bought my CBF 1000 at the end of June 2008 and since then it's been nothing but happiness! Good acceleration, torquey engine, excellent road holding and comfort. The only downside is the lack of a fuel reserve indicator. Otherwise, I'd recommend it, as it's equally at home on small roads (I live in the Auvergne) and freeways. Aesthetically, it's been criticized, but believe me, I took it in black with the 2 suitcases and the Top-Case, and it really looks good!

The 1000CBF: a true Honda...10 minutes in the saddle and you feel like you've known it for 3 years...The engine is excellent for the concept: sufficiently powerful, smooth, lively. The chassis is limited: in cool use, it's fine, but I wanted to push it in a duo... phew! I'll have to check the settings up close... As for the brakes, they're fine, sufficient.
Otherwise, very much in tune with its role as a versatile, simple, easy-to-handle bike that won't disappoint on a daily basis, but the complete opposite of the FZ1........, i.e. no fun. The look and colors don't help...........

After going through the 650 vstrom I fell for the CBF 1000 A, it's a change, more power less autonomy, less comfort too, hard seat and poorly designed, especially for the passenger, but nothing to regret, great braking, great recovery, happiness, a misalignment of the fork head, Honda takes care of it Rating : 5/5
French Donkey Model 2006
After a year (registration on 10/04/06) and some 19,000 km of "rolling-always" at the handlebar of this extraordinary CBF1000, I have only a few minor criticisms to make: fuel gauge hidden by the gas pedal cables, and at first sight rather difficult to "get", no reserve indicator, so you have to keep an eye on the trip; seat more comfortable than the 600's, but still lacking in softness; fairing vibrations (easily repairable - see http://cbf600.free.fr); and of course, at this price, no cardan shaft or Dual CBS

As for the rest, it's all good! An engine available at all revs (6th gear at less than 1,500 rpm), exemplary roadholding, and city handling that would make some scooters green with envy

In short, if I had to change now, I'd go back to the same model - unbeatable value for money...

I'd like to mention one downside to this bike, which I was very interested in
The shape of the fairing... In fact, the fairing runs back along the tank, so that a "point" comes right up to my knees (you can see it on the photos). In short, it's impossible for me to ride this bike (I'm 1.85 m tall)
But on the 600 I don't have this problem. The fairing on the 600 is smoothly integrated into the tank.
Too bad...

??? your knees touch the fairing that runs back along the tank???
So explain to me, you're 1m85 tall, you either have a 40 cm bust and all the rest on your legs or you ride sitting on the tank.
I'm 1m90 and my knees never touch the fairing. My saddle is in an intermediate position.

I'm a 46-year-old biker.....I've been riding a CB 500 for almost 10 years.....a little jewel....increvable.....but I wanted to try out a 4-wheeler......and I wanted a bit more horsepower and especially torque......i went to the dealership today to try it out and I have to admit it was love at first sight.....I've placed an order and I'll have mine the day after tomorrow.....they'll even take back my 500 at a good price......advice: if you don't want to buy it, don't try it out because you'll find it hard not to fall for it. It's got a lot of torque and excellent braking....very easy to handle too....it steers very well.......for the moment, there are only two small drawbacks: the speedometer's poor readability...I risk having problems with Sarko's creatures if I'm not careful, and the protection is clearly inadequate...and I'm only 1m72.....will have to see about a high bubble, especially as it's already available at dealerships.....salut à tous les motards Rating : 5/5

frankly, I've tried it and I'm won over, no complaints, now you can compare it with other bikes without hesitation, I've finally found the one that will replace my vfr 98
with her, I was already up there with the sportbikes, but with this cbr 1000, frankly, I'd be way ahead of them, with the added comfort, and that's in spite of its wise silhouette.

Good evening to you all
I've tried the new speed triple 10.50 and the FZ1 but I've just chosen the CBF 1000 ABS and don't regret it: I'm delighted!
It's a fabulous engine too, with torque, pep and adrenalin galore, but what's more, you don't hesitate to take on the 4 lanes like that little local road, and for much longer. All in all, it's a real pleasure Well, in black, it's very handsome, and with a few options, a lot of people turn around when they hear it go by. And then there's an engine you can push without hesitation and without unscrewing your neck
Try it and you'll be hooked!

I was looking for a bike with ABS, good protection and if possible a drive shaft to replace my 900 div. I tried out several bikes, including BMs, both new and used. And I went to Honda on the advice of a friend: NO pbs, the order is placed, I'll have it soon. Go and try it out, super-full engine, formidable ABS, agility, ease of use (I do mixed city/road riding) Correct protection, good position, well, the cardan shaft is missing, but it doesn't matter, I'll clean the rear rim... I was bluffed by the performance at 10000€

I tried it for 15 minutes, and placed the order immediately afterwards, a treat, exchanged it for my BMW R1100S, and I'm not disappointed, not at all. Apart from the chain kit, like many others, I would have preferred the cardan shaft, but happy anyway! Torque and power, combined with amazing handling, what a pleasure to ride this bike in the Haut Var!
Bonne route ! ;)

"piloting" a 250 kg guzzi v11 isn't always easy, and the cardan shaft requires a pinch of experience. To find yourself at the controls of a Honda CBF1000 requires nothing more than the desire to play with it from the very first kms... the engine pushes in boosted threads even from 3MT in "6th gear"... it takes the L/R angle with disconcerting ease... crazy this bike! and the worst thing is that it's pleasant to titillate... a false air of cool this CBF! I've been riding a CBF600S since July 2005, and I was very interested in its big sister, so I tried it out on Tuesday: it's very easy to handle, the engine is smooth and quick, and it handles very well on fast, winding and wet roads, as well as in town. In short, I'm going to pick mine up on Saturday. Rating : 5/5

At last, a manufacturer that makes sense!

If the sensations are there at low revs, this should be a fun bike

Mr HONDA did the right thing by fitting a reasonable-sized tire (160) and not giving in to the law of very large tires, which make us lose a lot in terms of handling.

I ride a DL650 and a 4-legged would tempt me enough. It's true that on this type of bike, a cardan shaft would be a definite plus. What about the wooden seat?
In any case, I'd go and try it out. In dealerships early February, I think.

What a great idea, Mr Honda!
I currently use a Honda CB Seven Fifty for my daily commute and a BMW K1200RS for touring and long trips... With this CBF 1000, Mr Honda has matched my 2 bikes..
I'll definitely be giving it a try when it comes out, because having what my 2 bikes do in 1... my banker and my SDS will be happy!

The new fazer 1000 S (fz1)looks nice, but with weak torque for a 1000(the power is up), a wooden seat,..., it's no longer a versatile bike but more a "more" comfortable r1!!!! it won't be my next bike in 2006. As the owner of a CBF 600 N that I like, I was waiting for a 1000 (N or S no matter) to have a bike with more torque. Well, I'm very disappointed. Admittedly, the new CBF 1000 has a nice engine (we'll have to wait for the test ride to be sure), but not only has the problem of the wooden seat not been solved, but it's also a baby weighing 220 kg dry with a lot of plastic (understandable on the 600, inexcusable on the 1000.) For example, the new FZ1, which is far from being a super champion, "only" weighs 204 kg. It won't be my next bike, too bad. Rating : 5/5

Hello,
Sober and with good taste, this Honda has what it takes to seduce, well considering the matching luggage. However, its definition (more modern) reminds me of a machine I owned a few years ago... the Triumph Sprint, the first of its name, an excellent machine with an unforgettable engine. The ultimate version (called the Executive) had very similar specifications to this CBF.

I've had the CBF600S for a year now, and the 1000 version with the cbs/abs seems like a wise choice for those looking for a bike that's discreet and easy to work with, but that doesn't stop you sending it off when the going gets tough. 9500 € seems to be the right price for Honda. The size is more than reasonable; the original tires, at least on the 600, hold up well over the distance, but for the 1000 I'd like to think that the quality of the flu is better, to the detriment of durability. What I don't understand is why there aren't one or two compartments on the sides of the bubble... Well, until I get back to you with a detailed test, enjoy the ride. Rating : 5/5

I've been a CBF600 user for less than a year, and I'm impatiently awaiting its release to swap my beauty for her big sister. I do 40,000 km a year and a more torquey mill is quite tempting. Rating : 5/5
Hello everyone. I've been riding an XJ900s for a while now, and I was wondering which model I was going to switch to, but here it is, all it needs is a cardan shaft and it would be perfect for me
Bonne route à tous
