presentation of the CBR 600 F 2002
a new look inspired by the VTR SP-1, fuel injection, and a twin sister to affirm its pretensions. But, proud of its past, the little CBR of this new century remains faithful to the spirit of versatility that has characterized it for as long as it has existed. Surprise: today, there are 2 CBR 600s: the F, which reconciles sport and comfort; and the FS, more radical, designed to assert the pistarde's potential on the racetrack. In contrast to the Yamaha R6, the Honda offers an accommodating riding position that opens up a wide range of horizons for the machine. Sport, of course, but also the power to ride for long periods without messing up the rider. Little different from the previous generation, the mill's main improvement is PGM-FI fuel injection. Although brutal when the throttle is applied, it improves engine filling. Fuller in the mid-range, the boiler strengthens at around 10,000 rpm, and only calms down when approaching the red zone, at the 14th digit. Powerful, but still below the R6. Lighter, the new CBR still requires a little effort to get it into the corner. Roadholding, meanwhile, is impeccable. The bike forgives minor errors and is genuinely friendly to the rider. The suspension works well, providing a level of comfort hard to imagine on a sportbike. When it comes to rider-friendly sports bikes, only the Kawa ZX-6R can compete.
